True beauty comes from our inner character, rather than a focus
on the external - inner beauty begins with fearing the Lord and depending upon
His Spirit to develop the fruits of righteousness within us – patience,
kindness, service, joy, self-control and goodness - lasting beauty comes from a
gentle and peaceful spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight and is much
more important than adoring ourselves with outward apparel

‘Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on
her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah, who was the wife
of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The girl was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had
ever lain with her.’ - Genesis 24:15-16 (NIV).
‘Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar
on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah, who was the
wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The girl was very beautiful, a virgin; no man

Rebekah had physical beauty, but the servant was looking for a
sign of inner beauty.
God answered Eliezer’s prayer by bringing to the well a girl who
was not only willing to offer him water, but she eagerly watered the servant’s
camels also.
Rebekah went beyond the expected indicating her servant heart.
Eliezer did not ask for a woman who was stunning to behold or
who had an extensive fashionable wardrobe.
He knew the importance of finding a woman with the right heart,
and he asked God to help him with this task.
Appearance is glorified in our western culture. We spend so much
time and money ensuring that we look good, smell good and dress well.
But how much effort do we invest into developing our inner
beauty?
Proverbs 31:30 says, ‘Charm is deceptive, and beauty is
fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.’
Beauty that the world values is temporal; it fades as we age.
However, inner beauty is permanent and grows lovelier as we grow
older.
Prayer:
‘Dear Lord, thank you that beauty that is valued by you starts
on the inside. Forgive me for being impressed and persuaded by the world’s
definition of beauty. I want to grow beautiful inside with the help of your
Spirit.’
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!
Final Thoughts:
Inner beauty begins with fearing the Lord and depending upon His
Spirit to develop the fruits of righteousness within us.
Patience, kindness, service, joy, self-control and goodness are
the beautiful qualities that keep us attractive on the inside and appealing to
be around.
In 1 Peter 3 we are reminded that true beauty comes from our
inner character, rather than a focus on the external.
Lasting beauty comes from a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is
very precious in God’s sight and is much more important than adoring ourselves
with outward apparel.
Is it time to refocus our attention and efforts on developing
inner beauty?
Perhaps we have been enticed to believe that beauty is really
about our outward appearance.
God says true beauty begins inside. Do we agree?
Be Greatly Blessed!
