She went to the best doctors, received the finest treatment, but her health continued to decline. She got word that Jesus was coming through her town. When she heard that, something came alive on the inside. She had so much coming against her, but she didn’t focus on that; she knew it was her time for healing. Instead of giving up, she fought her way through the crowds and touched the edge of Jesus’ robe. When she did, immediately she was made whole. I wonder how many other people were there like her in that same type of situation. They were sick. They were discouraged. They had trouble. But they just watched Jesus pass by. They let excuses keep them from their miracle. Friend, don’t let that be you. Don’t let your circumstances keep you from reaching out to Jesus. It doesn’t matter what’s happened in your past, just keep moving forward.

Know that He is faithful, and He will meet your faith with His power.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: 

Father, today I press into You. I believe that You have my miracle in the palm of Your hand. I choose to take my eyes off of my circumstances and set my gaze on You, Jesus, because You are the Author and Finisher of my faith in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.’ We are not reformed or rehabilitated, we are recreated into a vital relationship with Christ. At conversion we are not turning over a new leaf that will soon be forgotten, we are beginning a new life with a new Lord of our life that will last through eternity. Do our lives reflect this newness? We now have a new perspective and new attitudes. We are new people who believe that God will constantly be doing new things in our lives. Do we perceive and wait for the new things that God is doing in our lives? Be encouraged, for God would say to us today, ‘See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.’

A New Thing

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV).

The Israelites had been slaves in Egypt, but God promised them something new.

They cried to God in their captivity and He heard and delivered them. Though imprisoned, He alone was able to set them free.

A new exodus would take place through a new desert. The past miracles were nothing compared to the new things God would do for them in the future.

We have a God who sees our struggles and hears our cries for help.

Moreover, we have a God who can deliver and do new things in our lives.

We have a God who wants us to move ahead with Him into areas that look impossible, but with Him, are not.

Can we trust that God will create new paths in the desert places of our lives?

Paul reminds us that with Christ all things are made new.

We are made new. ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.’ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Christians have been made brand new people on the inside. The Holy Spirit gives us new life; we are not the same anymore.

We are not reformed or rehabilitated, we are recreated into a vital relationship with Christ.

Prayer:

‘Heavenly Father, thank you that you have saved me and that I am now a completely new creation in Christ. Thank you that you can make streams in the hard, desert places that I am now experiencing. I wait for you to do a new thing.’

Final Thoughts:

Do our lives reflect this newness? We now have a new perspective and new attitudes.

We are new people who believe that God will constantly be doing new things in our lives.

Do we perceive and wait for the new things that God is doing in our lives?

Be encouraged, for God would say to us today, ‘See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.’ (Isaiah 42:9).

A GOD WHO RESTORES WASTED YEARS - You do not need to be ashamed of your wasted years. You were born for God’s eternal purposes. He planned for you a life of satisfaction, joy and usefulness in his kingdom, but God’s plan for your life was interrupted by the devourer. But now, in Christ, all is new! The Lord goes back to the day the locust came and he starts counting again from the moment you repented. All those blessings you missed were stored up, and all the joy and peace you thought gone forever were actually kept by the Lord.

A God Who Restores Wasted Years

 “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25).

Did you waste years before you repented and surrendered all to Jesus?

You may think, “I could have been so much deeper in Christ. I could have brought so much joy to his heart. I can never make up all those wasted years.”

We all want to make up to God our lost years, to make amends and repay him.

But he says, “I will make it up to you! You can’t repay me for a single wasted hour, so walk before me in righteousness and turn from your sins. I will make up all the losses, regardless of whether they are yours, your family’s or others.”

To repentant sinners, the Lord declares, “Fear not … be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things!” (Joel 2:21).          

You do not need to be ashamed of your wasted years. You were born for his eternal purposes.

He planned for you a life of satisfaction, joy and usefulness in his kingdom, but God’s plan for your life was interrupted by the devourer.

But now, in Christ, all is new!

The Lord goes back to the day the locust came and he starts counting again from the moment you repented.

All those blessings you missed were stored up, and all the joy and peace you thought gone forever were actually kept by the Lord.

Paul said, “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14).

You may feel pangs of remorse for your wasted time, and memories will keep you humble, but in God’s eyes, your past is a dead issue.

Your loving Father says, “Forget the past and press on to what I have promised you.”
