BE FAITHFUL TO THE END - As the end of the age approaches, we will be tested as to where our love lies; with the Father, or with the world. The apostle John writes, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." Will we be faithful to God, or will we allow the love of this world to quench our fire, and compromise our relationships? Be faithful until the end. Jesus gave a warning saying, "because iniquity abounds, the love of many shall grow cold." Do not allow love for the world to quench your love for God. “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” A careful reading through the life of the Apostle Paul will yield insight concerning those who surrounded him. Luke was a true and faithful friend to Paul, staying with and supporting him to the very end of his life, even through the worst adversities. Then, there was another friend, whose name was Demas, about whom Paul wrote positively at first, but who did not remain faithful to the end. Paul records that Demas forsook him because he "loved this present world." As the end of the age approaches, we also will be tested as to where our love lies; with the Father, or with the world. John writes, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." Demas damaged his testimony, his spiritual relationships, and undoubtedly cost him heavenly rewards.

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” - Proverbs 17:17

A careful reading through the life of the Apostle Paul will yield insight concerning those who surrounded him.

In this brief devotion, I want to focus on two of Paul's friends -- Luke and Demas.

Luke was a true and faithful friend to Paul, staying with and supporting him to the very end of his life, even through the worst adversities (2 Timothy 4:11).

Then, there was another friend, whose name was Demas, about whom Paul wrote positively at first, (Colossians 4:14Philemon 1:24) but who did not remain faithful to the end.

Paul records that Demas forsook him because he "loved this present world." (2 Timothy 4:10)

As the end of the age approaches, we also will be tested as to where our love lies; with the Father, or with the world.

The apostle John writes, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." (1 John 2:15)

I do not believe that Demas lost his salvation, but he did lose his capacity to sense and express the love of the Father, which damaged his testimony, his spiritual relationships, and undoubtedly cost him heavenly rewards.

What kind of friend will we be to God?

Will we be faithful, or will we allow the love of this world to quench our fire, and compromise our relationships?

My encouragement to you is to be faithful until the end.

Don't forget that Yeshua gave a warning to end-time saints, saying, "because iniquity abounds, the love of many shall grow cold."

Become a friend like Luke, and learn from the life of Demas -- do not allow love for the world to quench your love for God.

Don't forget, a true friend loves... at all times!

THE BATTLE WILL NOT BE EASY … BUT THE VICTORY IS ASSURED - As we come to the conclusion of this age, the spiritual battles are intensifying. In our spiritual warfare, we truly face a battle-hardened enemy who fights with savagery – ignoring the enemy is foolish and will lead to our defeat. Overestimating him, however, is the opposite error, for "Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world" - and we are assured by the word of God and His spirit within us that victory awaits us - “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” As we commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, leaders from around the world gather to honor those who served and died to deliver Europe and the world from the Nazis during World War 2. It was on June 6, 1944, that the largest military operation in the history of the world took place. Just before the invasion, allied commander General Dwight Eisenhower issued a now-famous letter to the 156,000+ soldiers that stormed the beaches at Normandy, the 13,000+ paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines and the naval officers on the 5,000 ships off the coast of France. Jesus’ disciples asked Him for signs of “the end of the world.”
Jesus didn’t give a date, but He did give prophetic signs we should watch to be ready. Is the end of the world near now?
When Will the World End?
There are many ideas about when the world will end, and even about what the end of the world and the end times mean.
For many, it’s a joke. Cartoonists draw a strange man wearing a sandwich board sign proclaiming “The End Is Nigh” to the unheeding crowds on a big city street.
But it’s not just kooks and religious people talking about the end of the world.
Scientists and politicians throw around the phrase as well.

Existential threats and the end of the world
Human survival and the world as we know it are truly under threat.
Many passionate and even desperate people are warning and trying to reverse whichever of the dangers to our existence seems most real to them.
But there is little agreement and precious little action. The dangers grow worse, and most people do their best to put them out of their minds.
But is there a source that can give definitive answers about what is going to happen and when? Is there a real solution to prevent human extinction?
Why not consider the source that most likely gave us the term end of the world and see what it says?
Where the term end of the world came from
Before there was a scientific or political interest in the end of the world, there was a religious one, based on the wording of the most influential English translation of the Bible.
The venerable King James Version of 1611 uses the expression end of the world seven times.
Four of these are in the book of Matthew, referring to the prophetic end times.
(In Psalm 19:4 and Isaiah 62:11, “end of the world” instead has the connotation “to all parts of the world.”)
In the Bible, what does “end of the world” mean? And when did Jesus say it would come?
The disciples asked Jesus about the end of the world
Jesus had warned His disciples that the most magnificent structure of their nation and religion was going to be totally destroyed (Matthew 24:2).
They were understandably concerned and wanted to know when this would take place.
They connected His prediction of the destruction of the temple with other predictions that He would come again at the end time. So, they approached Him.
“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (verse 3, King James Version unless otherwise noted).
End of the world means end of the age
If you check other, more modern translations, including the New King James Version, you will see that most of them translate the last phrase as “end of the age.”
The Greek word used here is aion, which here means an age — specifically, the time of man’s misrule that will end when Jesus Christ returns.
Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words says this about aion: “‘An age, a period of time,’ marked in the NT usage by spiritual or moral characteristics, is sometimes translated ‘world;’ the RV marg. always has ‘age.’ … The phrase ‘the end of the world’ should be rendered ‘the end of the age,’ in most places.”
What are the signs of the end of the world?
In Matthew 24 Jesus gave many signs that would lead up to His return, including His promise that the good news about God’s Kingdom would be shared around this world — a world steeped in bad news.
Jesus said, “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (verse 14).
The good news is that, though Jesus will come back during a time of unparalleled “great tribulation” when humanity is at the brink of self-annihilation, He will return and save humanity (verses 21-22).
We can examine all of Jesus’ prophetic signs and know we are very close to the end, but Jesus said we won’t know the day or the hour (verse 36).
What does Jesus want us to do until the end of the world?
So, what did Jesus tell us to do? At the end of Luke’s account of the same Olivet Prophecy, Jesus warned:
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man [Jesus Christ]” (Luke 21:34-36, NKJV).
Jesus compared the end times with the days of Noah, when most people ignored Noah’s warnings and were completely unprepared for the Flood.
Parable of the tares and the end of the world
The King James Version also quotes Jesus using the phrase end of the world twice and end of this world once in His parable of the wheat and the tares (weeds).
This parable was about how God sows His truth in this world and prepares people for His Kingdom, while Satan sows lies that produce people who pretend to follow God but follow Satan instead.
“The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels” (Matthew 13:39; see also 40 and 49).
To be truly ready for Christ’s return, we must be sure we are living as He lived and doing what is pleasing to Him.
This can also serve as a sober warning to Christians to not fool themselves into thinking they are okay just because they attend church or consider themselves Christians. Satan is the master of deception.
Here again, in this parable of the tares, “world” is translated “age” in the New King James Version and other modern versions.
From other passages that give more specifics about God’s times of judgment, it seems these passages are talking about judgment that will occur sometime after Jesus’ return.
Jesus Christ’s words of reassurance about the end of the world
In what has come to be known as the great commission, Jesus gave His followers a job to do before His return, and He gave us encouragement as well.
Jesus said to go and teach all nations, baptizing them and “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20).
This mission trains His Church to do His work and to learn to care for the people He is calling now.
Jesus promised to be with us in this effort to the end. He will never abandon us. His help—and His Kingdom — are sure.
World without end?
It is interesting to consider that, even though the King James Version talks about the end of the world, it also talks about “world without end”:
“But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end” (Isaiah 45:17).
“Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen” (Ephesians 3:21).
In both passages, the New King James Version translates world without end” as “forever and ever.”
God’s plan is not just about an end. The end of this evil age will actually mark the beginning of something much better.
The Kingdom of God is a joyous, peaceful and ever-increasing kingdom that will have no end.
You need to understand and prepare for this wonderful world of the future.
Are the events in Revelation going to happen in the future? How can we know?

END TIMES PLACE OF SAFETY - The hour of trial that will come on the whole world is the Great Tribulation - Christians will be protected because they kept Christ’s “command to persevere” and they also kept the commandments of God. Christians must seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, then they will be watching and praying and Jesus will be with them always, “even to the end of the age” - The popular teaching today is that Christians will be raptured to heaven before the Great Tribulation begins and return with Christ at His second coming to end the Great Tribulation and to put Satan away. In Jesus’ prophecy to the seven churches, which was given to John for him to write in the book of Revelation, Jesus said, “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” The hour of trial that will come on the whole world is the Great Tribulation. In the book of Revelation John writes of a war in heaven between Satan and the archangel Michael. But Satan will lose and be cast back down to the earth. Satan will then have great wrath because he knows he has but a short time left. He will bring about great tribulation (war) and persecute the woman, which is symbolic of Christ’s Church. The woman, here meaning the Church, will “fly into the wilderness to her place.” Some have speculated where a place of safety would be, such as Petra in Jordan. There is one location that will be prepared at which the Church will be protected, but Scripture does not clearly identify that place.

Does the Bible speak of a special “place of safety” for Christians during the Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord? If so, where is it?
In what is called the Olivet Prophecy, Jesus said, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved [meaning, alive]; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:21-22).
What will happen to Christians during the Great Tribulation?
The popular teaching today is that they will be raptured to heaven before the Great Tribulation begins and return with Christ at His second coming to end the Great Tribulation and to put Satan away.
What is the correct biblical teaching on what will happen to Christians during the Tribulation?
In Jesus’ prophecy to the seven churches, which was given to John for him to write in the book of Revelation, Jesus said, “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Revelation 3:10).
America's Existential Challenge: Pandemic, War and Law - JURIST ...The hour of trial that will come on the whole world is the Great Tribulation.
These Christians will be protected from the Great Tribulation because they kept Christ’s “command to persevere” and they also kept the commandments of God (Revelation 14:12).
But how and where will they be kept from that “hour of trial”?
A woman flies into the wilderness
In chapter 12 of the book of Revelation John writes of a war in heaven between Satan and the archangel Michael.
But Satan will lose and be cast back down to the earth. Satan will then have great wrath because he knows he has but a short time left.
He will bring about great tribulation (war) and persecute the woman, which at the end of the chapter is symbolic of Christ’s Church (verses 12-13).
Verse 14 says, “But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent [Satan].”
Notice that the woman, here meaning the Church, will “fly into the wilderness to her place.”
The word “place” is singular. This verse also says the Church is nourished for 3½ years (time = 1 year, times = 2 years, half a time = half a year) in the wilderness (see also Revelation 13:5).
Does the Bible indicate any possible location for this wilderness or “place of safety”?
Some have speculated about where a place of safety would be, such as Petra in Jordan, but the Bible does not clearly indicate a specific location.
We do know that part of the Church will be taken into a “wilderness to her place” (Revelation 12:14) where it will be “nourished” — protected and cared for.
The wording implies there is one location that will be prepared at which the Church will be protected, but Scripture does not clearly identify that place.
Are all protected in a place of safety?
But will all Christians be included?
Although some Christians will be nourished and protected, it seems others will suffer persecution and martyrdom during the time of the Great Tribulation (Revelation 6:9-11; Revelation 12:17).
Speaking of the time of His second coming, Jesus said, “And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven [atmosphere] to the other” (Matthew 24:31).
When Christ returns, He will resurrect faithful saints from their graves and the saints who are alive will be changed.
The saints who are alive will have lived through the Great Tribulation. Will they have been protected in a particular location or “place of safety”?
Revelation 7 describes a group of people numbering 144,000 (verses 3-4) and also “a great multitude which no one could number” (verse 9) that is said to have “come out of the great tribulation” (verse 14).
The Bible does not say whether these people will be in a wilderness location during the last part of the Great Tribulation or whether they will be taken to such a location after they are “sealed” for protection.
Exactly how and where they are protected is not revealed.
God protects His people
The book of Psalms contains numerous scriptures that speak of God protecting His faithful people.
In these passages, the focus is on trusting God, as opposed to being in a specific location in order to be protected.
·     Psalm 18:2: “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
·     Psalm 27:5: “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.”
·     Psalm 31:20: “You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion [“shelter,” Revised Standard Version] from the strife of tongues.”
·     Psalm 32:7: “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble.”
·     Psalm 91:7, 9-10: “A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. … Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.”
·     Psalm 121:7: “The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.”
These promises of protection will be fulfilled for the “woman who flies into the wilderness,”
for those who “come out of Great Tribulation,” and
for those gathered alive at Christ’s return from “the four winds” of the earth.
The one common thread in all of these Scripture examples is that God will protect those who faithfully seek to serve, obey and trust in Him.
Place of safety summary
What can we conclude from these scriptures in reference to a “place of safety”?
·     The Bible says some Christians will go into the wilderness to be protected from Satan and his wrath (Revelation 12:14).
·     The Bible also says some Christians will not go into this wilderness “place of safety” and Satan will go to make war with them (Revelation 12:17).
·     The Bible also shows that many other servants of God will be “sealed” for protection (Revelation 7:3-8).
·     Several Psalms speak of the Lord’s protection of His faithful saints.
Jesus’ instructions to Christians today
John Pilger: There is Already Nuclear War Because the Threat of ...The place of safety may be an intriguing subject to study, but it is not what Jesus wanted Christians to be constantly dwelling on.
It is true He instructed us to “watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36).
But worrying about one’s personal safety to the exclusion of other important spiritual responsibilities is not what Christ had in mind.
In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus instructed us to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
If Christians are seeking first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, then they will be watching and praying and Jesus will be with them always, “even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
