THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH - We don’t fight for salvation, but we do have a fight against the enemy (the forces of hell), against our flesh and the carnality of the world, and against those who would try to deceive or distract us. Distractions are both very worldly lost people and very religious lost people. It is a fight to live in this world. We are to be laying hold of our eternal life - the Lord Jesus won it for us, but we have to take it and we have to keep it. Knowing Jesus is a relationship with God - relationships require regular time together, knowing each other, and caring. We are accountable for everything we do while we are in our bodies. We are to come out of the world, not do the same things lost people do. We are to be separate, and we are to be clean. Life is a battle, it’s a fight, in fact, it’s a good fight that’s because we WIN! “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” The Bible talks about fighting the good fight of faith in 1 Timothy 6:12. A read of the passage is quite revealing. Followers of Jesus Christ are supposed to grab hold of salvation. We don’t fight for salvation, but we do have to receive Jesus. However, we do have a fight against the enemy (the forces of hell), against our flesh and the carnality of the world, and against those who would try to deceive or distract us. Distractions are both very worldly lost people and very religious lost people. It is a fight to live in this world.

The Good Fight Of Faith

What Is The Good Fight Of Faith In The Bible?

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” - 1 Timothy 6:12 The New King James Version

The Bible talks about fighting the good fight of faith in 1 Timothy 6:12.

However, we are to be laying hold of our eternal life.

It’s there, the Lord Jesus won it for us, but we have to take it and we have to keep it.

Once Saved Always Saved?

There are those who teach that once a Christian is saved by accepting Jesus, they are always saved.

They have Bible verses they use to prove their point, but these folks have missed the point.

We must remember that knowing Jesus is a relationship with God, not a train ticket.

Relationships require regular time together, knowing each other, and caring.

We are accountable for everything we do while we are in our bodies.

We are told in 2 Corinthians 6:17 that followers of Jesus are supposed to come out of the world, not do the same things lost people do.

We are to be separate, and we are to be clean.

Why? So that God will accept us is what verse 17 tells us.

As a committed Christian, you must live each day walking by faith (Galatians 3:11).

Life is a battle, it’s a fight, in fact, it’s a good fight that’s because we WIN!

John lays it out brilliantly saying,

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” - 1 John 5:4-5

Purpose
The purpose of FaithPro.org is to show people that God has answered all the questions of life in His Word which is the Bible.  A wise person once said, “The better you know the Word of God, the better you shall know the God of the Word”.

God Teaches You Through The Holy Spirit
We encourage you to ask for the Holy Spirit to teach you as you see the answers to the questions of life   on FP and look the scriptures up for yourself.   Also, remember Jesus said, that everything should be established by 2 or 3 witnesses.  That means, if you see it once, it is interesting.  If you see it more, then that is God speaking to you.  Doctrines based on one verse that loosely interpret that particular area will lead to spiritual shipwreck.

God bless you as you study, pray, and meditate the Word of God.

Knowing Jesus Is Eternal Life
Now What?
Pauline Hylton

Ever had one of those “aha” moments with the Lord?
Probably.
I had one this morning. After several decades of being a Christian, the Lord gave me an earth-shattering, heaven-opening revelation.
It came from John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
In this passage, Jesus is with His beloved disciples for the last time before the crucifixion.
He has been preparing them and now He prays for them to His heavenly Father.
The disciples don’t get most of what He says to them… at least at that time.
After Christ’s death and resurrection, and especially after Pentecost when they receive the Holy Spirit do they really grasp all that Jesus said to them.
Look, I’m way over 50 so I’ve lived more than half of my life for sure.
I’m on the proverbial other side of the hill, and yet I am still beginning to understand an inkling of what God is like and what my life should look like.
As I look back, much of my time has been spent just existing. Paying bills, raising kids, working, serving, without much intentional thought.
Not that those things aren’t important. They are. It’s just that they need to have a context.
As I think about it, if I had the most important thing first, all those other important roles and jobs would have been clearer and more effective.
Now I’m at a turning point. My kids are grown and the parents who lived with me for over 14 years have gone to be with the Lord.
I’ve been trying to get a job, but haven’t been successful.
"Now what?" keeps ringing in my ears.
The answer came this morning — know Him.
It’s not that I hadn’t read that verse before, only this morning when I read it; I understood the significance of those words. At least for this stage of my life.
Let me put it this way — think of the person you know the best. I’m thinking of my sweet husband.
We will celebrate 35 years in September. I know him better than anyone on this earth.
I can tell when he is frustrated and I know what gives him great joy. But often when I ask him what he’s thinking about, he comes up with something I couldn’t have ever guessed.
The fact is, I don’t know what he is thinking because I don’t really know everything about him. For instance, I’m not sure of his favorite color. (Not that it matters.)
I could spend five years talking with him and not know everything about him.
Now think about God.
Think some more.
How about asking Him how He created the bumblebee? That would take a while.
Or, ask Him about the laws of physics. (Some of us could have eternity and never understand it.)
What if we asked Him when He was the most pleased, or the angriest, or the saddest?
The ONLY way we can even know God is through Jesus. He threw open the door to heaven and tore apart the veil to the holy of holies!
By knowing Jesus, we have access to knowing God.
And John 17:3 says that is eternal life.
That is my now what.
No matter where you are in your life, whether you are in school or in a nursing home, knowing Him is eternal life. We were made for it.
Let me finish with a prayer from the Apostle Paul. I really like the Holman’s Bible translation:
“I want to know Christ — yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:10-11
So my dear brother and sister in Christ, get a head start on knowing Him. Because that is eternal life, and really, that is true life now.
Can God change your life?
God has made it possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your own life. Discover how you can find peace with God. You can also send us your prayer requests.

Pauline Hylton is a freelance writer and exhausted farmer who lives outside of Mayberry on an old tobacco farm. She and her husband Tom tried farming full time, but ran out of back. Now Tom works, and Pauline stays home and eats dark chocolate. She has company: a standard poodle, two mutts, a lion-kitty, and a whole “mess” of chickens. Oh yeah, and there’s Molly, the great Pyrenees guards the chickens 24/7, and she’s good at it.
When she doesn’t eat one.
Pauline’s looking toward heaven, while laughing on earth.
She loves her Lord, her family, and dark chocolate—not necessarily in that order.
Pauline's book Growing in Christ From the Ground Up (releases July 30, 2019) chronicles her years as a mediocre farmer teaching her that true growth comes from the inside.
