ARISE SHINE - The Lord calls us not just to endure the darkness but to arise in His manifest glory! Some of us feel defeated; others are worn out and weakened by the increasing gloom in the world. Arise Shine!

The Lord calls us not just to endure the darkness but to arise in His manifest glory!

.

Some of us feel defeated; others are worn out and weakened by the increasing gloom in the world. Yet it is here, where depression would otherwise capture our souls, that we are commanded to rise. To throw off oppression is not just an act of faith; it is an act of obedience.

.

By Francis Frangipane

"It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ" - (2 Thessalonians 2:14).

The Word of God states plainly -- no, it commands those at the end of the age to be fearless in the face of darkness!

Speaking through the prophet Isaiah, the Spirit of the Lord orders His people:

Arise, shine; for your light has come,

And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

For behold, darkness will cover the earth,

    And deep darkness the peoples;

But the Lord will rise upon you

And His glory will appear upon you.

Nations will come to your light,

And kings to the brightness of your rising.                                           --- Isaiah 60:1-3

Traditionally, because the second half of Isaiah 60 contains references to the millennium, some have placed the fulfillment of this entire chapter in the age to come.

But let me ask: Will "darkness . . . cover the earth" in the millennium? During the glorious reign of Christ when death, sin, and sorrow are banished, will ‘deep darkness’ still rest on ‘the peoples’"?

The fact is, while Isaiah's prophecy does indeed conclude in the millennium, it begins during the last hours of this age.

Clearly these first three verses of Isaiah 60 are a pre-Rapture, pre-millennial command from God.

The Lord calls us not just to endure the darkness but to arise in His manifest glory!

People argue about the timing of the Rapture, but what I am presenting here does not disturb any popular eschatology.

I'm saying between now and whatever scenario you believe, there will be a time of increasing glory for true Christ followers.

Some of us feel defeated; others are worn out and weakened by the increasing gloom in the world.

Yet it is here, where depression would otherwise capture our souls, that we are commanded to rise.

To throw off oppression is not just an act of faith; it is an act of obedience.

It is time to cancel our plans to be miserable!

Through the blood of Christ, we break our covenant with death and darkness; we obey the voice of our destiny!

One may argue, "But you do not know my difficulties."

Listen to how the Amplified Bible renders the Lord's command: "Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you -- rise to a new life]!"

Right at this moment, even as you read these words, new life from the presence of God is descending into your spirit.

Receive it!

Accept it!

Obey it!

You see, God's plan is that here on Earth, in us, the glory of the Lord will be revealed.

The luminous, radiant light of His presence, as it shone from Moses' face and flooded Solomon's temple at its dedication, as it radiated from Jesus and bathed His disciples on the Mount of Transfiguration -- that light of God's presence shall arise from within us at the end of the age!

This same divine glory shall, in ever-increasing degrees of brightness, appear upon us in the years prior to the Lord's actual Second Coming.

In truth, this great work of grace has already begun.

We are part of the Holy Spirit's expansive

preparation.

God is gathering together His people. We are learning to humble ourselves in repentance and prayer; we are finding friendship and unity with other Christians.

Indeed, our reconciliation across denominational and ethnic barriers has an immeasurable reward attached to it.

As valleys are "lifted up, and every mountain and hill . . . made low . . . then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together" (Isaiah 40:4-5).

God is qualifying us to receive His splendor!

Nations shall come to His light and kings to the brightness of His rising!

DEPRESSION AND FAITH - “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Depression is something that almost everyone faces, to some degree, at some point in time, depression becomes a jailer that locks you within the bowels of darkness and seems to allow no light into the cell. There are many external factors which contribute to depression: unfulfilled expectations, personal failures of all kinds, circumstances from which there seems to be no escape, loneliness, let-downs, physical weariness, and the oppression which comes from Satan. Then there are internal or biological factors. Sometimes depression is spiritual. The individual who turns his back on God realizes there is no other hope or light, and that’s depressing. Some people work through their own depression. Others need help, and without strong individuals to lean on, they may be swallowed up by the darkness of the soul that vexes their lives. God is not indifferent to the suffering of someone who needs to break the bondage of depression, and those who struggle with it need help emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Help them realize that life has not ended and as long as there is God there is hope, gradually let them get their hand on the doorknob that leads down the hall to their families and their lives again. He is the God of the living “his compassions fail not.”

“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Psalm 43:5

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, known for more than a century as the prince of preachers, began his remarkable ministry at the age of 18.
Early in his ministry Spurgeon was speaking when a fire broke out in the tabernacle.
Not hearing what the commotion was about, Spurgeon urged the people to remain seated, something that caused the deaths of several people.
Spurgeon was devastated and the tragedy plunged this young man into deep depression.
He overcame it, but for the rest of his life he battled depression, sometimes so severely that he couldn’t rise from his bed.
IBelieve: Psalm 43: 5 No more Sadness! Tell your Soul what to do.Depression is something that almost everyone faces, to some degree, at some point in time, but in most cases the depression is temporary and, in a few days or weeks those dark clouds seem to lift and the sunshine appears.
For others, however, like a dark shadow, depression becomes a jailer that locks you within the bowels of darkness and seems to allow no light into the cell.
Hope for a heavy heart – Rejoice in HimThere are many external factors which contribute to depression: unfulfilled expectations, personal failures of all kinds, circumstances from which there seems to be no escape, loneliness, let-downs, physical weariness, and the oppression which comes from Satan.
Then there are internal or biological factors — chemical imbalances, temperaments which are dark and moody, and a host of other factors, far too elusive to document and often even to understand.
Sometimes depression is spiritual. Look at Jonah, who ran from God, whose self-pity turned to depression.
The individual who turns his back on God realizes there is no other hope or light, and that’s depressing.
Sometimes trying to pinpoint the cause is futile. If it is there, it’s there no matter what has caused it. The objective is to escape its grasp.
Spurgeon took heart that one of his favorite biblical characters, an individual who was known as “a man after God’s own heart,” King David, struggled with depression.
In one of David’s prayers he cried out, “O Lord... your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down upon me... there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear... I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart” (Psalm 38:3-8).
But David threw himself on the mercy of God and his equilibrium was restored. Again, he cried, “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 43:5).
Some people work through their own depression. Others need help, and without strong individuals to lean on, they may be swallowed up by the darkness of the soul that vexes their lives.
Knowing that it is OK to say, “I need help and need it now!” takes courage, but it’s the first step.
If you see someone who withdraws, who isolates himself or herself, who neglects appearance, who sleeps or turns to drugs or alcohol, who despairs of getting better, you need to be the one who helps that person get help.
God is not indifferent to the suffering of someone who needs to break the bondage of depression, and those who struggle with it need help emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Personally I have never struggled with depression, and having sat and listened to those who describe its darkness is like listening to sometime tell about a world that I’ve never entered; but helping them realize that life has not ended and as long as there is God there is hope, gradually lets them get their hand on the doorknob that leads down the hall to their families and their lives again.
He is the God of the living, and as Jeremiah wrote, “his compassions fail not.”

SIGNS OF DEMONIC INFLUENCE - Demons seek to place people in bondage - to keep them enslaved to certain sins, addictions, and destructive behaviors. The good news is that in Christ we can be set free from ever demonic influence - He died not only to forgive us of our sins, but to deliver us from the power of Satan - as we align our lives with God, we can resist the devil and break free from every evil spirit - Deliverance ministry refers to setting people free from the influence of evil spirits. Every demonic influence is unique and there are varying degrees to which demons have a hold on a person; sometimes it is mild and other times more severe. Jesus delivered people from the tormenting influence of evil spirits. Demons seek to torment, both physically and mentally. Evil spirits seek to torment people with physical pain and sickness, various fears, insomnia and night terrors, demonic voices, and other types of torment. The devil and his demons seek to oppress people; to weigh them down and wear them out. The spirit of heaviness is a demonic spirit that oppresses people with depression, despair, and hopelessness. It is as if a dark cloud follows the person wherever they go, constantly pressing down on them. When people are set free from the oppression of evil spirits, it is like a heavy weight is lifted off of their shoulders. Many people report feeling lighter after deliverance.

Jake Kail

Over the last ten years, I have been involved in the ministry of deliverance.
Deliverance ministry refers to setting people free from the influence of evil spirits, often by casting them out.
In my book Can a Christian Have a Demon? I named three common signs of demonic influence.
gray scale photo of person wearing hijabThough not an exhaustive list, when any of these three exist, it is an indication that there could be a demonic presence and a need for deliverance.
Keep in mind that every case is unique, and that you should always seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Also be aware that there are varying degrees to which demons have a hold on a person; sometimes it is mild and other times more severe.
1. Torment
Luke 6:17-18 describes a multitude of people coming to Jesus “to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed.”
Jesus delivered people from the tormenting influence of evil spirits.
Demons seek to torment, both physically and mentally.
grayscale photo of woman wearing spaghetti strap dress standing on grass fieldLuke 13:10-17 describes a woman who was tormented by a “spirit of infirmity” for 18 years, unable to straighten her back.
She encountered Jesus and was set free from this physical torment.
Mark 5:1-20 tells the story of a man so tormented by demons that he lived in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
After Jesus set him free he was found “clothed and in his right mind” (Mark 5:15).
Evil spirits seek to torment people with physical pain and sickness, various fears, insomnia and night terrors, demonic voices, and other types of torment.
2. Oppression
The Bible says that Jesus went about “healing all who were oppressed by the devil(Acts 10:38).
The devil and his demons seek to oppress people; to weigh them down and wear them out.
Isaiah 61:3 says that God will give us a “garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”
Where there was confusion there is clarity, where there was heaviness there is joy, and where there was despair there is hope.
3. Bondage
Just as the devil is called “the tempter” (see Matthew 4:3), evil spirits are actively working to bring people into temptation and sin.
crawling woman covered with blood on stonesAlong with the sinful nature and world system, the devil and his demons seek to enslave the human race.
When there is an inner compulsion and addiction towards sinful or destructive behaviors, there is a possibility that what you’re dealing with is beyond the flesh and that an evil spirit is at work.
Exercising self-discipline will usually not be enough in these cases; deliverance from an evil spirit will often be needed.
Do you find yourself in any of the above scenarios?
He died not only to forgive us of our sins, but to deliver us from the power of Satan.
As we align our lives with God, we can resist the devil and break free from every evil spirit.
I encourage you to pray through a prayer of deliverance, call on the name of Jesus, and break free!

"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times." Micah 5:2

lyrics
O holy night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees
O hear the angel voices
O night divine
O night when Christ was born

O night divine
O night, O night divine
Chains shall He break, for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in greatful chorus raise we

Let all within us praise His holy name
