MORE THAN CONQUERORS - We live in a time of great shaking in the nations of the earth. But as you’re faithful to Him, God will make you an overcomer — not just surviving, but thriving! For God’s people, it doesn’t matter what’s going on with the stock market or the world’s economy — He wants His people to prosper! If you’re obedient to Him, it becomes His responsibility to bless you, so you can be a blessing to others. But in order to be an overcomer, you need more than just head knowledge of the Bible — you must act on what it says. These are not just believers in name only! They fear the Lord, spend time in His presence, witness for Him, and faithfully sow their offerings into His Kingdom. Of such people, God declares, “They shall be Mine… on the day that I make them My jewels.” Remember: The Lord didn’t create you to be ordinary or average — He created you to be a precious jewel, His special treasure! You belong to Him, and when you walk with Him in an intimate covenant relationship, He takes full responsibility for your needs. The Bible declares that God doesn’t want His children to just barely find victory over the circumstances of life — He wants us to be “more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).

However, this overwhelming victory in Christ doesn’t come automatically or without effort.

God’s Word instructs us to

o  sanctify ourselves (Joshua 3:5),

o  lay aside every weight of sin (Hebrews 12:1), and

o  cleanse our garments (Revelation 3:18).

This sanctification must be a daily commitment, not just a one-time experience — and we will never succeed in this unless we’re dedicated to prayer.

In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus shares a parable about finding victory through prayer, saying we “always ought to pray and not lose heart.”

A widow pleaded her case so persistently before the unjust judge that he finally granted her request.

Like this desperate woman, we must learn to pray in faith, refusing to give up until our petitions have been granted.

Even if it seems at first that our prayers aren’t being answered, we must not become weary in our intercession.

As an overcomer, God says we will reap our harvest “in due season” (Galatians 6:9) — and I know your “due season” is coming!

WHEN YOUR GOD-SIZED DREAMS STALL - Sometimes the only known path to the future is a desire to stay faithful, even in the face of discouragement - If you've ever pursued a God-sized dream, you will be challenged to do what doesn't come naturally. You'll be challenged to walk by faith. God-sized dreams defy control and only survive on one ingredient: faith. I can only get to the destination walking by faith, which means I can only see one step at a time. The experience has felt long and dreary. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm even heading in the right direction. Keep going. Don't give up. Transitions takes time. Sometimes the only known path to the future is a desire to stay faithful, even in the face of discouragement. It doesn't come naturally, but I needed to trust God more. It's easier to think something is wrong when nothing is happening. It's also harder to keep doing the same thing, when we just want to see change. God's dreams for you can never be stalled. He's calling you to draw near Him, to give you strength, to keep doing what you're doing. He knows our hearts are weary. Yet He sees our desire to stay faithful. None of that changes His love for us. And He'll guide us all the way.

What To Do When Your God-Sized Dreams Stall

If you've ever pursued a God-sized dream, you will be challenged to do what doesn't come naturally. You'll be challenged to walk by faith.

I was driving late to an appointment and getting antsy at each stoplight. There had been something bugging me for a while that I couldn't shake.

I was discouraged about some dreams I'd been pursuing.

I had hit some roadblocks and I was stalled.

So I decided to talk with someone who counsels people through transitions and grab a cup of coffee. I was curious to get her perspective.

Putting plans in place to get things done has always been my thing.

I had carved out a career in high tech getting teams to produce products doing just that. I liked planning and measuring progress. I got good at meeting goals.

But, the dreams I'm talking about don't reach success through executing plans.

These dreams are God-sized dreams.

A Safety Mechanism

God-sized dreams defy control and only survive on one ingredient: faith.

The more I want to make progress, the more I get discouraged. It's like a safety mechanism God puts into the dreams that come from Him.

I can only get to the destination walking by faith, which means I can only see one step at a time.

The trouble is that I don't like doing the one-day-at-a-time gig.

The experience has felt long and dreary. Sometimes, I wonder if I'm even heading in the right direction.

Nothing To Fix

An hour later, with a drained cappuccino and a bunch of wooden stir sticks I broke while talking, the verdict was this:

Keep going. Don't give up. Transitions takes time.

"Hmm..." I answer cautiously because I really want something to be wrong. I want to fix something.

"So, you're saying I'm not missing anything?"

"Nothing's wrong" was the reply.

I stood up, awkwardly surprised. At the same time, I was relieved because I knew I could now go home and ask God what all this was about.

What Doesn't Come Naturally

Sometimes the only known path to the future is a desire to stay faithful, even in the face of discouragement.

That is what I realized as I stopped to pray in my car before returning home.

As I desperately listened, I got a strong sense of what needed to be done.

Keep doing what I'm asking you to do, regardless of what it looks like, Bonnie.

There wasn't anything I could fix. No changes to be made. Well, one change was needed -- the one in my heart.

It doesn't come naturally, but I needed to trust God more.

After all, it's easier to think something is wrong when nothing is happening. Then we'd have something to fix.

It's also harder to keep doing the same thing, when we just want to see change.

Some people give you the impression that trusting God comes second nature. I'm not quite there yet.

That is why it is such a big deal that God is faithful, even when we are not.

Is it still worth it? I ask myself, as I drove into the garage with the same daily routine waiting for me.

Do I still want to trust God even when it's hard? I remember a time when I struggled to answer that question.

So, when I found my heart saying yes that day, I knew God was at work in me. And I was unexpectedly encouraged.

“No one who trusts God like this -- heart and soul -- will ever regret it.

It's the same for all of us, acting in the same incredibly generous way." ~ Romans 10:11-12

The Message

Are you feeling discouraged because you're in between transitions?

God's dreams for you can never be stalled.

He's calling you to draw near Him, to give you strength, to keep doing what you're doing.

He knows our hearts are weary. Yet He sees our desire to stay faithful. None of that changes His love for us. And He'll guide us all the way.

Those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God. The sons and daughters of God can expect the leading of the blessed Holy Spirit. The Spirit does not force Himself on us. Our wills and our egocentric natures have to decrease, whereas the Spirit of Jesus within us has to increase. This is a continuing process. Little by little, Christ is being made bigger, and we are being made smaller.

What Is the Indwelling Spirit?

When you come to Jesus Christ, you receive Christ into your heart.

Jesus does not physically enter into your chest cavity and live there, but the Spirit of God comes and joins with the spirit of the believer.

This is what is meant by the term "the indwelling Spirit."

His function is to reproduce the life of Jesus in the believer. He will manifest the fruit of the Spirit in the believer's life.

The nine attributes of Jesus that develop in the life of someone who has been born again and who has been indwelt by the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

In Romans 8:14 the apostle Paul tells us that those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God.

We could transpose those words and say that the sons and daughters of God can expect the leading of the blessed Holy Spirit.

You might ask then, where does the constant struggle in the life of some Christians come from?

Many Christians run into problems when they do not cooperate with the Spirit. We have a choice.

The Spirit does not force Himself on us. For example, in the first century the apostles and elders in Jerusalem were debating a matter of doctrine.

After they heard much discussion, they responded to the believers in Antioch, saying, "It seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things" (Acts 15:28).

That was an awesome statement for those men to make. They were saying, in effect, that their opinion was equal to the opinion of the Holy Spirit.

They said, "It seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us."

You might ask yourself, if it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, who cares what the apostles thought about it?

They were acknowledging a God-given partnership. They could choose whether or not to cooperate with the Holy Spirit.

They can hold back and fail to acknowledge Him, or they can accept His leading to do what He wants them to do.

They have that freedom, but they eventually have to deal with the blessings or problems resulting from their free decisions.

John the Baptist can be our role model. He said, "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30).

Our wills and our egocentric natures have to decrease, whereas the Spirit of Jesus within us has to increase.

This is a continuing process. Little by little, Christ is being made bigger, and we are being made smaller.

If you fight that process and say, "I am going to assert myself and have my own way, but I will go to church on Sunday, acknowledge Christ, and take His benefits," you are going to be a defeated, immature Christian.

The struggle will go on as long as you give your flesh, the world, and the devil a place in your life.
