OUR CROWN AWAITS - Anyone who has run a marathon can tell you how difficult the race is. No matter how good you are, how well trained, how prepared, there are times in the race you just want to quit. But those who persevere till the end receive a prize. Today, athletes compete for trophies and medals. But in God's race, we win something far more precious -- a crown that is incorruptible. Just when you think you can’t run any further, you can! Press through and press on for the great prize - God is with us, strengthening our feeble knees and moving us in the right direction - In 490 B.C., the Athenians won a crucial and decisive battle over the forces of King Darius I of Persia, on a plain near the Greek town of Marathon. Upon delivering the important message of their victory, the Greek soldier who came to tell the good news died -- he had completed the 26-mile course running and bearing good news, and did it totally unreserved until he died. Today marathons are run all over the world, commemorating that very event 2500 years ago. Anyone who has run a marathon can tell you how difficult the race is. “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” - Hebrews 12:1-2

UNFADING CROWN OF GLORY - When Jesus appears to us, all those faithful shepherds will receive from Him the “unfading crown of glory.” At His appearing for the church at the Bema seat He will reward each one according to his works. Most believe that the “crown of glory” is not a literal crown but is symbolic of the sharing of His glory and honor. All of us believers will be glorified — so we will receive His glory - but for some, such as these faithful shepherds, will receive an additional amount of glory and honor - Shepherd the Flock of God - “So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.” Peter exhorts the elders to be good shepherds — to shepherd their flock voluntarily, by the will of God, not for gain and not lording it over them. Thus, they should be examples to their flock. Peter sets up Jesus, our Chief Shepherd, as our best example. When He appears to us, all those faithful shepherds — those who have followed the shepherd’s rules — will receive from Him the unfading crown of glory. His appearing, for the church will be at the first phase of His coming and at the Bema seat, where He will reward each one according to his works. Most believe that the crown of glory is not a literal crown but is symbolic of the sharing of His glory and honor.

Shepherd the Flock of God
“So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.” - 1 Peter 5:1-4 English Standard Version

"Bride IN Waiting"In 1 Peter chapter 5, Peter exhorts the elders among his readers to be good shepherds — to shepherd their flock voluntarily, by the will of God, not for gain and not lording it over them.
Thus, they should be examples to their flock.
In verse 4, Peter sets up Jesus, our Chief Shepherd, as our best example.
When He appears to us, all those faithful shepherds — those who have followed the shepherd’s rules (verses 2-3) — will receive from Him the unfading crown of glory.

Now as for this crown of glory, what actually is this?
Most believe that it is not a literal crown but is symbolic of the sharing of His glory and honor.
All of us who are believers will be glorified — so we will receive His glory.
But it seems that for some, such as these faithful elders (shepherds), they will receive an additional amount of glory and honor.
We should take note also that this glory and honor (as well as all of our spiritual gifts) is not something that we receive and keep as our own possession.
It is really something that is His and that is shared with us.
Thus, it is not something that we will boast about for eternity; rather, we will forever be grateful for this shared gift, because it will make us feel closer to Him.

My name is Stephen Nielsen, from Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA.  This blog is dedicated to the study of Bible prophecy, with an emphasis on our Lord’s return.  My writing will be mainly from two sources: as excerpts from the book I am now writing (I think it will be titled The Rapture of the Church), and from my own personal study.  I will also do my best to bring you up-to-date news (with my comments) that I think is relevant to the study of prophecy and that indicates that His coming is near.
Many well-meaning Christians these days think that spending time on anything related to prophecy is a waste of time—that it is more of a distraction from doing the Lord’s work.  Well, that may be true of some.  But I think there is great value in a well-intended study of prophecy: 1) it will show us that His Word is true and reliable, as we see prophecy fulfilled; 2) it serves to stir us up to holiness, love and good works, as we see indicators that His coming is near (Heb. 10:24-25); 3) a knowledge of prophecy will serve to make us better witnesses, as we will be able to relate better to others the urgency of the hour—that now is the time for salvation; and 4) as we are reminded of the resurrection and the rapture, it will serve to comfort and encourage us (1 Thess. 4:18).

WHEN HE SHALL APPEAR - When He shall appear, we shall appear with Him in glory - we shall receive an unfading crown of glory - we shall be like Him, and without sin unto salvation. These promises even now constitute an incentive for each believer to purify himself even as He is pure. We should abide in Him - that is, continue in Him, hour after hour - careful that whatever we do, wherever we go, we are in no danger of being ashamed before Him when He shall appear - “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.” There are many glorious promises associated with the great promise that Christ Himself shall once again appear in person here on planet Earth. Perhaps the most wonderful promise associated with His second appearing is given through John: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” - Therefore, when He shall appear, we shall appear with Him in glory; we shall receive an unfading crown of glory; we shall be like Him, and without sin unto salvation. These promises even now constitute an incentive for each believer to purify himself even as He is pure. We should abide in Him that is, continue in Him, hour after hour.

BY HENRY M. MORRIS, PH.D.

“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.” - (1 John 2:28)

1 JOHN 2:28-3:3There are many glorious promises associated with the great promise that Christ Himself shall once again appear in person here on planet Earth.
For example, Paul says: “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory” - (Colossians 3:4).
Similarly, the apostle Peter promises: “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away” - (1 Peter 5:4).
Pin on 1 John KJVThe writer of Hebrews first reminds us of His former appearance on Earth: “But now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself” - (Hebrews 9:26).
Then the promise is: “Unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation” (verse 28).
Perhaps the most wonderful promise associated with His second appearing is given through John: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” - (1 John 3:2-3).
Therefore, when He shall appear, we shall appear with Him in glory; we shall receive an unfading crown of glory; we shall be like Him, and without sin unto salvation.
These promises even now constitute an incentive for each believer to purify himself even as He is pure.
1 John 2 28 Unashamed Before Himat His Coming Powerpoint Church ...But there is also the sobering warning in our text associated with the soon-coming time when He shall appear.
We should abide in Him (that is, continue in Him, hour after hour), careful that whatever we do, wherever we go, we are in no danger of being ashamed before Him when He shall appear!

The Institute for Creation Research (ICR) wants people to know that God’s Word can be trusted in everything it speaks about—from how and why we were made, to how the universe was formed, to how we can know God and receive all He has planned for us.
After 50 years of ministry, ICR remains a leader in scientific research within the context of biblical creation. Founded by Dr. Henry Morris in 1970, ICR exists to conduct scientific research within the realms of origins and Earth history, and then to educate the public both formally and informally through professional training programs, through conferences and seminars around the country, and through books, magazines, and media presentations.
