YOUR BEST DAYS ARE AHEAD - Don’t let the memories of your past, regardless of how pleasant or unpleasant they are, keep you from seeing that God has better days ahead for you. In any earthly endeavor, you have to look ahead to see where you’re going. It’s all right to take a quick look, to remember where God has brought you from; to reflect on His goodness in your life; to tell the stories of God’s saving grace, power and might operating on your behalf; but don’t dwell there. Keep moving forward. Walk in God’s anointing, demonstrate His power, and live the life God has called you to live. Your best days are ahead - “The glory of this latter house will be greater than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.” - How many times have you heard someone talk about the good old days? People like to compare the way things used to be with the way they are now — and it always seems like conditions were much better back then than they are presently. There is an old saying that summarizes this: “The older we get, the better we were.” Memories can be selective. People will often remember only the highlights — the good times — while forgetting the difficulties of that same time in their lives. The prophet Haggai encountered this same situation. He was among the exiles that had returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. The first temple was unmatched in glory and splendor.

“The glory of this latter house will be greater than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.” - Haggai 2:9

How many times have you heard someone talk about the good old days?

People like to compare the way things used to be with the way they are now — and it always seems like conditions were much better back then than they are presently.

There is an old saying that summarizes this: “The older we get, the better we were.”

Memories can be selective.

People will often remember only the highlights — the good times — while forgetting the difficulties of that same time in their lives.

The prophet Haggai encountered this same situation.

He was among the exiles that had returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple.

The first temple was unmatched in glory and splendor.

The rebuilt one seemed plain in comparison.

The difference was startling to everyone, and discouraging to more than a few.

Many among them declared that there was no way this new building could ever compare with the temple they remembered from before.

Because they were focused on what they regarded as the good old days of their past, they were in danger of missing what God intended to do in their future.

The prophet stepped forward at this critical moment and delivered a thundering message to the governor and all the people.

“The glory of this latter house will be greater than the former, says the Lord of Hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.”

It seemed impossible. How could this stone edifice ever compare with the golden splendor of Solomon’s temple?

Haggai may not have known how it was going to happen, but that didn’t keep him from proclaiming that it most certainly would happen.

And sure enough, there came a day far in the future that God came to His rebuilt temple in the form of Jesus Christ.

In Solomon’s temple, God’s presence was hidden behind a veil, only to be seen by the high priest once a year.

In the rebuilt temple, the glory of God, in the person of Jesus, was manifested for everyone to see.

Surely the glory of the latter house was greater than the former house.

This word is not just to the returning exiles in Jerusalem — it is also a word for you today.

Don’t let the memories of your past, regardless of how pleasant or unpleasant they are, keep you from seeing that God has better days ahead for you.

In any earthly endeavor, you have to look ahead to see where you’re going.

Nearly every motor vehicle has a relatively large windshield.

Most of them also have a very small mirror in the middle of the windshield.

You look out the windshield most of the time, and only glance in the rear view mirror occasionally.

It’s all right to take a quick look, to remember where God has brought you from; to reflect on His goodness in your life; to tell the stories of God’s saving grace, power and might operating on your behalf; but don’t dwell there.

Keep moving forward.

My pastor and mentor, Dr. Lester Sumrall, told me, “Automobile companies put a reverse gear in their cars. God didn’t put a reverse in humans. We were made to go forward, not backward.”

Walk in God’s anointing, demonstrate His power, and live the life God has called you to live.

Your best days are ahead!

Lord, as we rise to meet each new day, please let us be filled with Your Spirit.

Wherever we go, let us spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness.

Let us desire to become more like You and to worship you in all we do.

Amen.

TIMES OF YOUR LIFE - Paul Anka - Good morning yesterday You wake up and time has slipped away And suddenly it's hard to find The memories you left behind Remember Do you remember The laughter and the tears The shadows of misty yesteryears The good times and the bad you've seen And all the others in between Remember Do you remember the times of your life (do you remember) Reach back for the joy and the sorrow Put them away in your mind For memories are time that you borrow To spend when you get to tomorrow Here comes the setting sun The seasons are passing one by one So gather moments while you may Collect the dreams you dream today Remember Will you remember the times of your life

lyrics
Good morning yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember
Do you remember

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember
Do you remember the times of your life (do you remember)

Reach back for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
For memories are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the setting sun
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember
Will you remember the times of your life

Times of Your Life" is a popular song and advertising jingle made famous in the 1970s by Canadian singer Paul Anka, who recorded it in 1975 for an album of the same title. It was written by Roger Nichols (melody) and Bill Lane (lyrics).
Kodak created an advertising campaign in 1975 that featured Anka singing a jingle entitled "Times of Your Life". While the tune was being heard across the United States in a commercial, Anka decided to record and release it as a single in late 1975. The song became a hit in the U.S., reaching number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1976 and remaining in the Top 40 for 12 weeks. The previous month, "Times of Your Life" had spent one week atop the Billboard easy listening (adult contemporary) chart, Anka's only recording to do so.
Anka began including the song in his concert appearances, particularly during his shows in Las VegasNevada. The performance of the song is often accompanied by a video montage featuring Anka and his family and friends. In 2015, Anka's recording was used in a series of retrospective promos for the final season of the AMC television series Mad Men.

Album            :  The Best of Cilla Black
Songwriters    :  BARRY (GB) MASON, UMBERTO BINDI

lyrics

Silent is the night
Closing in around me
I sit and listen for
Footsteps on the stairs

Thinking of the night
When your love can find me
I run to the door
But no one's there

Where is tomorrow
For someone like me
There's no tomorrow
For a memory
I lost a lifetime
What can I do
Where is tomorrow
Without you

If I close my eyes
I can almost see you
And I'll remember
Little things you said

If I touch my cheek
It could almost be you
Kissing all my
Lonely tears away

Where is tomorrow
For someone like me
There's no tomorrow
For a memory
I lost a lifetime
What can I do
Where is tomorrow
Without you

Tell me when...
Where is tomorrow
Without you
