KARMA AND REINCARNATION - the concept of reincarnation and karma is incompatible with what the Bible teaches about life, death, and the sowing and reaping of eternal life - “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment…” - Karma is the idea that how you live your life will determine the quality of life you will have after reincarnation. If you are unselfish, kind, and holy during this lifetime, you will be rewarded by being reincarnated (reborn into a new earthly body) into a pleasant life. However, if you live a life of selfishness and evil, you will be reincarnated into a less-than-pleasant lifestyle. You reap in the next life what you sow in this one. The Bible rejects the idea of reincarnation; therefore, it does not support the idea of karma. We are “destined to die once,” meaning that humans are only born once and only die once. There is no endless cycle of life and death and rebirth. After death we face judgment, meaning that there is no second chance. You get one shot at life and living it according to God’s plan, and that is it. The Bible talks a lot about reaping and sowing. It was Jesus whose death on the cross resulted in the reaping of eternal life for us, and that it is faith in Jesus that gives us this eternal life.

“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment…” - Hebrews 9:27

Karma is a theological concept found in the Buddhist and Hindu religions.
Image result for images Karma And ReincarnationIt is the idea that how you live your life will determine the quality of life you will have after reincarnation.
If you are unselfish, kind, and holy during this lifetime, you will be rewarded by being reincarnated (reborn into a new earthly body) into a pleasant life.
However, if you live a life of selfishness and evil, you will be reincarnated into a less-than-pleasant lifestyle.
In other words, you reap in the next life what you sow in this one. Karma is based on the theological belief in reincarnation.
The Bible rejects the idea of reincarnation; therefore, it does not support the idea of karma.
Hebrews 9:27 states, “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment…”
Mystical gate royalty free stock photosThis Bible verse makes clear two important points which, for Christians, negate the possibility of reincarnation and karma.
First, it states that we are “destined to die once,” meaning that humans are only born once and only die once.
There is no endless cycle of life and death and rebirth, an idea inherent in the reincarnation theory.
Second, it states that after death we face judgment, meaning that there is no second chance, like there is in reincarnation and karma, to live a better life.
You get one shot at life and living it according to God’s plan, and that is it.
The Bible talks a lot about reaping and sowing.
Job 4:8 says, “As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it.”
Psalm 126:5 says, “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.”
Luke 12:24 says, “Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”
In each of these instances, as well as all the other references to reaping and sowing, the act of receiving the rewards of your actions takes place in this life, not in some future life.
It is a present-day activity, and the references make it clear that the fruit you reap will be commensurate with the actions you have performed.
In addition, the sowing you perform in this life will affect your reward or punishment in the afterlife.
This afterlife is not a rebirth or a reincarnation into another body here on earth. It is either eternal suffering in hell (Matthew 25:46) or eternal life in heaven with Jesus, who died so that we might live eternally with Him.
This should be the focus of our life on earth.
The apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 6:8-9, “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Image result for images Karma And ReincarnationFinally, we must always remember that it was Jesus whose death on the cross resulted in the reaping of eternal life for us, and that it is faith in Jesus that gives us this eternal life.
Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Therefore, we see that the concept of reincarnation and karma is incompatible with what the Bible teaches about life, death, and the sowing and reaping of eternal life.

REINCARNATION - Reincarnation is the theory that with enough lives, a person can somehow finally get it right and then be allowed into paradise/nirvana. Many people think they are good enough for heaven. With reincarnation, the idea is very similar. The only difference is that it suggests that you'll be good enough... eventually. Why is such a scheme flawed? Because it doesn't take into account the sinfulness of man. The Bible says that all people have sinned and fall short of God's glory, that all have turned from God and gone their own way, that there is not even one person who does good and that there is no one who doesn't sin. Therefore, what good would it do to come back to earth in a different body? The degree of change would not be enough to make a difference. You live your first life as a sinner who has turned from God, then you come back as a different person still a sinner who turns from God. This endless cycle would give no benefit to anyone. Since we are sinners, we need forgiveness. Since we all turn away from God, we need to turn back to Him. This is the consistent message of the Bible.

What about reincarnation?
EveryStudent.com

"Does the Bible talk about reincarnation anywhere? How can we know this is our only life?"

Reincarnation and Karma - Life after DeathThe Bible never mentions reincarnation and in fact states the contrary...
"It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment." (Hebrews 9:27)
If the Bible is correct, then why doesn't God allow for reincarnation?
Consider that the idea of reincarnation may be flawed at its core.
Reincarnation is the theory that with enough lives, a person can somehow finally get it right and then be allowed into paradise/nirvana.
Many people think they are good enough -- already -- for heaven. (They haven't robbed banks or killed anyone.)
With reincarnation, the idea is very similar. The only difference is that it suggests that you'll be good enough... eventually.
Why is such a scheme flawed? Because it doesn't take into account the sinfulness of man.
The Bible says that all people have sinned and fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23), that all have turned from God and gone their own way (Isaiah 53:6), that there is not even one person who does good (Psalm 53:3), and that there is no one who doesn't sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20).
Therefore, what good would it do to come back to earth in a different body?
The degree of change would not be enough to make a difference.
You live your first life as a sinner who has turned from God, then you come back as a different person who nonetheless is a sinner who turns from God. This endless cycle would give no benefit to anyone.
Since we are sinners, we need forgiveness. Since we all turn away from God, we need to turn back to Him (repentance). This is the consistent message of the Bible.
God tells us to turn to Him for forgiveness and seek Him in order to know Him.
Image result for images John 5:28-29If we do that, then heaven begins in this life and can merely carry on into the next life. For He Himself -- not a different place to live -- is what it's really all about.
Even though the Bible refutes reincarnation, it does speak of a resurrection of all people...
"An hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who did the good to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil to a resurrection of judgment." (John 5:28-29)
Here is more Scripture regarding that judgment...
“And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it... And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened... and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds... And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15)
Want to know how to have your name written in the book of life? Sincerely ask God now for His forgiveness.
Jesus died for your sins so that you could be forgiven.
But to receive God's forgiveness means turning to Him in sincerity and with a commitment of your life. See Knowing God Personally.

REINCARNATION - There is no evidence that the Bible has been edited in any systematic way to remove teaching. The entirety of Scripture teaches against any idea of reincarnation, and many biblical doctrines would be undermined if reincarnation was true. Humans are uniquely created in God’s image. Being in God’s image means that humans are eternal beings. Our existence has a beginning, but no end, like a ray which has a beginning point and then extends forever in one direction. Conception is the beginning of human life. No biblical text speaks of someone pre-existing his or her conception, with the exception of Christ Himself (obviously a special case because He is God). This life is the basis for our eternal destiny. Under reincarnation, bad things that happen to a person in this life are karma for bad things a person did in a previous life. The resurrection makes reincarnation impossible.

Was reincarnation removed from the Bible?

Anthony W. writes:
When will reincarnation be re introduced into the bible and the other books which were removed please.
It would appear no one seems interested, despite being a fact.
There are many hints in the current version. The Jewish people using the Tora still teach the fact!
Seems extremely odd such a massive subject has never been re introduced?

Lita Cosner, CMI-US, responds:
Dear Anthony,
bibleThanks for writing in. There is no evidence that the Bible has been edited in any systematic way to remove teaching.
Furthermore, the entirety of Scripture teaches against any idea of reincarnation, and many biblical doctrines would be undermined if reincarnation was true.
The entirety of Scripture teaches against any idea of reincarnation, and many biblical doctrines would be undermined if reincarnation were true.
First, humans are uniquely created in God’s image.
While this may not be something you were thinking of, many forms of belief in reincarnation — including Hinduism and Buddhism — state that a single soul may be reincarnated as plants, bugs, animals, or people.
But if humans are uniquely in God’s image, how can God’s image become not-God’s image, or vice versa?
Second, being in God’s image means that humans are eternal beings.
To use mathematical concepts, God is eternal in the same way that a line is, extending forever both when we look back and forward — there has never been a time when God did not exist, and there will never be a time when God ceases to exist.
Our existence has a beginning, but no end, like a ray which has a beginning point and then extends forever in one direction.
But if I will be reincarnated, I will end when my soul becomes a new entity.
No biblical text speaks of someone pre-existing his or her conception, with the exception of Christ Himself (obviously a special case because He is God).
Fourth, this life is the basis for our eternal destiny.
If I had ten lives before this one, and in those lives I did not believe in Christ, but in this one I do, where will my soul spend eternity?
Was Scripture lying when it said someone who does not believe in Christ before death will be forever lost?
Or what if I have another life after this one in which I do not believe in Christ?
Will I then be condemned, meaning that Scripture is lying when it says no one who believes in Christ will ever perish?
Reincarnation presents unsolvable soteriological problems that Scripture never tries to address, because Scripture does not present it as even a possibility.
The resurrection makes reincarnation impossible. If I had ten lives before this one, when I am resurrected, will I be resurrected as me, or as one of the ten previous entities?
Fifth, under most doctrines of reincarnation, bad things that happen to a person in this life are karma for bad things a person did in a previous life.
But this has invidious consequences:
(a) a person’s punishment has no remedial value because he can’t remember what he’s being punished for,
(b) we shouldn’t help a person who’s suffering, because that will stop him working out his karma.
Sixth, the resurrection makes reincarnation impossible.
We are promised that all people will be resurrected, either to everlasting life or judgment (John 5:29).
If I had ten lives before this one, when I am resurrected, will I be resurrected as me, or as one of the ten previous entities? And what would happen to them?
Or would God split my soul up so that each of the dead bodies could have a soul? The whole idea is absurd.
These are only some of the arguments against reincarnation. I also encourage you to read the related articles below.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Lita Cosner

REINCARNATION - The Bible says “it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that to face judgment.” At death, the Christian goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. Unbelievers, upon death, go to a place of suffering, not into another body. Each human being lives once as a mortal on earth, dies once, and then faces judgment. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body. Reincarnation is a heretical, unbiblical doctrine.

Is Reincarnation Compatible With the Bible?
Charlie Campbell

There are many Biblical problems with believing in reincarnation.
First, Second Corinthians 5:8 says, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."
At death, the Christian goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body.
Secondly, Luke 16:19-31 tells us that unbelievers, upon death, go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Thirdly, Hebrews 9:27 assures us "it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that to face judgment."
Each human being lives once as a mortal on earth, dies once, and then faces judgment. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.
Reincarnation is a heretical, unbiblical doctrine.
