Rick and Denise Renner

Before I get into the meat of this letter, I want you to be among the first to know that our meetings in the United States this summer have been canceled.

About a month ago, we learned that international flights from Russia have been halted due to the coronavirus situation.

Because of that, Denise and I had no choice but to cancel all our meetings this summer — the first time we’ve ever had to do this for one of our regular trips to the States.

Thank you so much for praying for God’s wisdom for us as we navigate this interesting season we are all living in all over the world.

People have been asking how the situation is in Russia.

Although the impact of this virus in Russia has been significant, in the midst of it all, God is moving mightily in the lives of so many people as we continually reach out over the airwaves to preach and teach the Gospel, which is truly Good News!

Whew… we are definitely living in unstable times, just as the Holy Spirit prophesied that it would happen at the very end of the last days.

But at the same time, this is the greatest hour for the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A massive harvest is coming into the Church all over the world. Statistics prove that right now, more people are coming to Jesus worldwide than at any other point in history.

The Spirit of God is swinging the Gospel sickle, and millions upon millions of souls are being swept into the Kingdom of God. Praise the Lord!

This is one of the greatest signs in evidence today that we are near to the coming of Jesus (see Matthew 24:14).

But right in the midst of all this, events have occurred throughout the earth that have shaken the nations of the world and filled men’s hearts with fear.

I am convinced that part of this worldwide assault has been the devil’s attempt to put believers in fear so they will retreat from this worldwide Gospel advance.

Although we need to be wise and do what we can to protect ourselves in times such as these, we do not need to react in fear.

Fear is never the answer, for it results in blurred thinking and bad decisions.

God’s Word promises us a sound mind if we will claim it.

When Timothy was facing hard times, Paul told him, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

This verse says that God has given us a “sound mind.”

This comes from the Greek word sophroneo, and it is a compound of the words sodzo and phroneo.

The word sodzo is the Greek word for salvation. It means deliverance, protection, and soundness.

The word phroneo is the root for the word mind.

When these two words are put together, as they are in this verse, the new word is translated sound mind.

The idea presented by the word sophroneo is a mind that is saved and protected or a mind that is sound.

It is just the opposite of a mind given to fear, panic, or unfounded and unreasonable thinking.

This word describes a mind that is thinking correctly!

Because God has given us a “sound mind,” we can think correctly about how to live in these last days — a time that Second Timothy 3:1 predicted would be “perilous.”

The word “perilous” in that verse is the Greek word chalepos, and it literally means something that is difficult, dangerous, or filled with risk.

This is a prophetic warning to let us know that those who live in the very last of the last days will be confronted with a strange period of time like mankind has never seen before.

It will be a time filled with difficulty, danger, and risk.

Today I want to give you what I believe is a sensible approach to living in these last days.

To ensure that we are doing all we can to remain in the blessings of God, these are the steps my wife and I apply to our own lives.

These are the Holy Spirit’s orders to Denise and me, and now I am passing them on to you as they’ve been given to us.

Living in the last days requires that we have a greater sensitivity to the Spirit of God.

Romans 8:14 declares that one of the privileges of being a son of God is that the Spirit of God will lead us.

The word “led” in this verse is the Greek word ago. It is the picture of someone extending his hand to you so that he can gently lead you.

In these last days, we must be led by the Holy Spirit.

However, the Holy Spirit will lead us only if we give Him this right.

Oh, how many times the Spirit of God has wanted to be our Leader, but we went our own way and ultimately suffered the consequences!

He knew exactly how to lead us past every attack. He knew how to avoid each strategy of the devil.

Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would “… shew you things to come” (John 16:13).

The word “shew” is the Greek word hodegeo and is the word for a guide who shows a traveler the safest course through an unknown country.

This means the Holy Spirit is our Guide. He knows the way we should go. He understands how to avoid every trap and obstacle along the way.

When we are going into an area where we’ve never been before, the Holy Spirit wants to show us how to take the safest route.

He knows exactly how to get us safely to our destination.

The Holy Spirit often stopped Jesus from going to certain regions because the Jews were waiting to trap Him.

To avoid these traps, the Holy Spirit would guide Jesus another way.

The Spirit also warned Paul not to go to certain places for the same reason.

Also, in the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit warned the Early Church in advance about persecution, famine, and other trials.

The Holy Spirit knows the future and wants to enlighten us with all the information we need in every situation. This is part of His ministry to you and me.

If the Holy Spirit speaks to you and tells you to do something specific, then obey Him!

Do you remember the account of when the death angel passed through Egypt and took the firstborn of all the Egyptians?

The reason Israel was unaffected was that the Israelites obeyed the instructions God gave them to put blood on the doorposts of their houses.

They brushed that lamb’s blood on the doors of their homes just as God had ordered.

Later when the death angel came, he passed by every home where he saw blood on the doorposts. In the end, not one of the Israelites was touched!

But what if Israel had disregarded God’s instructions and tried to protect themselves another way?

Would their efforts have worked? Of course not.

God told them how to be protected. All they had to do was obey. If they did what God told them, they were guaranteed protection and blessing.

They were untouched because they walked in obedience.

Weeping, crying, and mourning were heard in Egypt, but not in the land of Goshen where the children of Israel lived.

They found protection in their obedience to the Word of God and the Spirit of God.

As we obey the Word of God and listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading, we will have wisdom to know every step we need to take in the days ahead.

All we have to do is obey God’s instructions, and He guarantees us blessing and provision even in difficult times.

But if we try to take another approach, there is no guarantee for us to claim.

We must do what God says if we want to be assured of His divine blessing and protection.

As a spiritual leader and friend, I want to encourage you to increase your level of faith, especially if you are facing challenging times.

Stand on the Word of God — exercise your faith.

Listen to the Holy Spirit and obey what He tells you to do.

As you do these things, God’s supernatural blessings will kick into action, and you will soon find a river of supernatural provision flowing to your life.

There is no doubt that we are living in some of the most challenging days the world has ever seen.

But you can face these times victoriously because God has given you a sound mind; He has given you the promises of His Word; and He has given you the leadership of His Spirit.

Never has there been a more crucial time for you to operate in faith and not fear, and to believe for a mighty move of God to take place on this earth!

Today I’d like to lead you in this prayer:

Lord, as an end-time believer, I need to be filled with faith and not with fear.

Help me fill my heart with Your Word, stand on Your promises, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, and exercise my faith more than ever before!

I know that fear has blurred my thinking in times past, but it will NOT have any place in my life from this day forward!

Instead, I release my faith and confidently expect to be a partaker in the last and greatest harvest of souls ever to be reaped for the Kingdom of God!

Holy Spirit, help me rise to the occasion as I become an instrument God can use in these last days. I pray this in Jesus’ name.

Please remember that we are here to pray for you.

You can reach us by phone any work day 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT — or you can email us at prayer@renner.org, or submit your prayer request online.

Just as soon as we hear from you, we will swing into action to lift your concern to the Lord in faith.

It is one of our highest joys in the ministry to pray for you and to see Heaven’s best manifested in your life!

While I’m talking to you in this letter about being led by the Spirit in the last days, I want to tell you about my new book Last-Days Survival Guide — A Scriptural Handbook To Prepare You for These Perilous Times.

We are your brother and sister, friends, and partners in Jesus,

Rick and Denise Renner

along with Paul, Philip, and Joel and their families

OUR VISION is to take the Gospel both to our nearby world and to the ends of the earth, proclaiming Christ, and warning and teaching every man with all wisdom, in order that we may present every person fully mature in Christ Jesus. – Colossians 1:28

Rick and Denise met while they were each on an individual quest to wholeheartedly follow God’s plan for their lives. Rick was a college student, growing in his teaching ministry. Denise was a talented vocalist. She chose not to pursue a course that held the prospect of performing with the Metropolitan Opera so that she could instead pursue a relationship with Rick and fulfill her heart’s desire to enter full-time ministry.

Rick and Denise’s friendship has led to a lifelong love and a powerful partnership in building the Kingdom of God. After a decade of ministry, first as pastors and then as itinerant ministers, Rick and Denise Renner embarked on an adventure of a lifetime. In January 1991, the Renners and their sons — Paul (then 8), Philip (then 6), and Joel (then 2) — left behind all they knew to relocate their family to serve the region that only weeks earlier had become the former Soviet Union.

Rick and Denise remember kneeling together as a family and kissing the ground when they arrived at the airport in Latvia on that cold January day. In that moment, they all committed their lives to the will of God and to the people of their new homeland. The following year, Rick moved forward to launch and establish the first of its kind — and eventually the largest — Christian television network in that region of the world.

Over the years, Rick and Denise pioneered three churches, a Bible school, and a ministerial association that serves thousands of Russian-speaking pastors throughout the former USSR as well as parts of the Middle East. As Rick began training and mentoring leaders in the early days, Denise also developed a women’s ministry that is actively involved in changing the lives of women and their families today. Specifically, they minister to the needs of orphans, women prisoners, the homeless, and drug-and-alcohol addicts.

Rick, Denise, and their children began as a small circle of five, willing to go beyond their comfort zone to reach the uttermost parts of the world. Today that circle includes their sons’ wives, eight grandchildren, and a large ministry staff that helps the Renners extend their reach as they exalt Jesus Christ as the Hope of all nations.

Unshakable Hope by Max Lucado

God’s Promise
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” — Acts 1:8
I have a bargain for you to consider, a really great deal on a new tripod.
It is top of the line, weather resistant, and lightweight. It folds up to fit in a backpack. It adjusts to secure any type of camera.
This tripod can be a treasure that you pass down to all future photographers in your family.
You Will Have Power ~ Unshakable Hope by Max LucadoInterested? I’m offering it one-third off the regular price. It’s only fair that I do since this tripod is missing one-third of its legs.
Yes, this is a two-legged tripod. Imagine the convenience of one fewer legs to fold up and pack. No wonder it is so lightweight. Besides, who needs all three legs?
What’s that? You do? You’re unconvinced of the value? You’d rather wait for a three-legged tripod?
Well, okay. Then let me move on to bargain number two, a tricycle.
Just think of the joy your youngster will have riding up and down the sidewalk on this spectacular trike.
Fire-engine red. Tassels that dangle from the handles. And, listen to this, a little bell that sits on the handlebar.
Again, a great bargain. I’m offering it at one-third the original price. With these savings you can take the entire family out to dinner!
There is, however, the small matter of one missing wheel. But the trike still has two.
Little Johnny will eventually need to ride a two-wheeler anyway. Might as well start him out right. Buy him this two-wheeled trike.
You’re giving me that look again. You’re rolling your eyes at me the way Denalyn does.
Now you are sighing. Come on, don’t walk away.
Okay, the two-legged tripod is no good. The two-legged tricycle falls short of your expectations. But I have one more bargain for you to consider.
The Witness of the Disciples (Acts 1: 8) – www.bibleexploring.comHave you ever seen a prism? Nothing captures the radiance of sunlight like a triangular prism. You’ll spend hours caught up in rapt fascination with the refractions of this simple tool.
Entertain the kids. Impress your date. Get a good grade in science class. No home is complete without a triangular prism.
This one is particularly suited for the budget-minded consumer.
A slight factory defect has left one side of the triangle opaque. The other two sides work fine, mind you. But one third resists the light rather than refracts it.
Granted, the flaw is a slight disadvantage, but on the other hand who else on your block owns a two-sided prism? Of course, I’ll lower the price by one-third to compensate for the defect.
Don’t be so quick to shake your head. Think about it. One-third off the price for a tripod that is missing a leg, a trike that is missing a wheel, or a prism that is missing a side. Do you not see the value here?
Of course, you don’t, and I don’t blame you. Who settles for two-thirds when you can have the whole?
Many Christians do. Ask a believer to answer the question “Who is God the Father?”
He has a reply.
Or “Describe God the Son.”
She will not hesitate.
But if you want to see believers hem, haw, and search for words, ask, “Who is the Holy Spirit?”
Many believers settle for a two-thirds God. They rely on the Father and the Son but overlook the Holy Spirit.
You wouldn’t make that mistake with a tripod, trike, or prism.
You certainly don’t want to make that mistake with the Trinity.
Your Bible refers more than a hundred times to the Holy Spirit.
Jesus says more about the Holy Spirit than He does about the church or marriage.
In fact, on the eve of His death, as He prepared His followers to face the future without Him, He made this great and precious promise:
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” — Acts 1:8
Imagine all the promises Jesus could have made to the disciples but didn’t.
He didn’t promise immediate success.
He didn’t promise the absence of disease or struggles.
He never guaranteed a level of income or popularity.
But He did promise the perpetual, empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is central to the life of the Christian.
Everything that happens from the book of Acts to the end of the book of Revelation is a result of the work of the Holy Spirit of Christ.
The Spirit came alongside the disciples, indwelled them, and gave the early church the push they needed to face the challenges ahead.
Today's Promise : Acts 1:8 (NIV) | Jesus CallsPerhaps you could use a push.
Several years ago, when my legs were stronger, my belly was flatter, and my ego was bigger, I let my friend Pat convince me to enter a bike race.
Not just any bike race, mind you, but a race that included a one and a half mile climb up a steep hill with a gradient of 12 percent.
In other words, it was a tough, climb-out-of-the-saddle, set-your-thighs-on-fire, and prepare-to-suck-air-for-ten-minutes section of the race.
Appropriately called the Killer Diller, it lived up to the hype.
I knew its reputation.
Still, I signed up because Pat, my riding buddy, told me I could make it.
Easy for Pat to say. He is fifteen years my junior and has competed since his elementary school days.
He was riding in pelotons before most of us knew what they were.
When I balked at the idea of completing the race, he assured me, “Believe me, Max. You will make it.”
I almost didn’t.
In quick fashion the riders who belonged there left those of us who didn’t far behind.
We, the barrel-bellied laggards, made jokes about the upcoming ascent.
A couple of white dove stories to add to our collection. The first is straightforward. As I have written previously many believe that a w...But we didn’t joke for long. It takes wind to talk. We soon needed all the wind we could muster to climb.
I pushed and huffed and puffed, and about that point the ascent began.
By the time I was halfway to the top, my thighs were on fire, and I was having less-than-pleasant thoughts about my friend Patrick.
That is when I felt the push. A hand was pressing against the small of my back.
I turned and looked. It was Pat! He had already completed the race.
Anticipating my utter exhaustion, he had hurried back up the hill, dismounted his bike, and scurried to give me a hand.
Literally. He began pushing me up the hill! (The fact that he could keep up with me tells you how slowly I was pedaling.)
“I told you that you would make it,” he shouted. “I came to make sure you did.”
The Holy Spirit promises to do the same.
A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD The Holy Spirit is my Teacher… The Holy Spirit is my Teacher… I shall learn all I can from the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The…After Jesus ascended into Heaven, the Holy Spirit became the primary agent of the Trinity on earth.
He will complete what was begun by the Father and the Son.
Though all three expressions of the Godhead are active, the Spirit is taking the lead in this, the final age.
The Spirit promises to give us power, unity, supervision, and holiness: P-U-S-H.
Need a push?
He promises power to the saint. He is the animating force behind creation.
“All creatures look to You to give them their food at the proper time. When You give it to them, they gather it up; when You open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. When You hide Your face, they are terrified; when You take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. When You send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.” — Psalm 104:27-30
Every unfolding flower is a fingerprint of God’s Spirit.
“If God were to withdraw His Spirit, all life would disappear and mankind would turn again to dust.” — Job 34:14-15 TLB
The power in 'salvation' acts 1:8 - Home | FacebookThe Spirit of God is a life-giving force to creation and, more significantly, a midwife of new birth for the believer.
Jesus told Nicodemus:
“Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
“You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” — John 3:5-8
The Holy Spirit enters the believer upon confession of faith (Ephesians 1:13).
From that point forward the Christian has access to the very power and personality of God.
As the Spirit has His way in the lives of believers, a transformation occurs.
They begin to think the way God thinks, love the way God loves, and see the way God sees.
They minister in power and pray in power and walk in power.
This power includes the gifts of the Spirit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” — Galatians 5:22-23
These attributes appear in the life of the saint in the same way an apple appears on the branch of an apple tree.
Fruit happens as a result of relationship. Sever the branch from the tree, and forget the fruit.
Acts 1:8 The Lord Empowers His PeopleYet if the branch is secured to the trunk, nutrients flow, and fruit results.
So it is with the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
As our relationship with God is secured and unmarred by rebellion, sin, or stubborn behavior, we can expect a harvest of fruit.
We needn’t force it. But we can expect it. It simply falls to us to stay connected.
Want to see [the Holy Spirit’s] to-do list?
Comfort the believers (Acts 9:31).
Guide the believer into all truth (John 16:13).
Reveal the things that are still to come (John 16:13).
Offer prayers of intercession (Romans 8:26).
Bear witness that the saint is saved (Galatians 4:6-7; Romans 8:16).
Attest to the presence of God with signs and miracles (Hebrews 2:4; 1 Corinthians 2:4; Romans 15:18-19).
Create a godlike atmosphere of truth (John 14:16-17), wisdom (Deuteronomy 34:9; Isaiah 11:2), and freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).
The list of his activities is varied, wonderful, and incomplete without this word: holy.
The Spirit of God also makes us holy. After all, is He not the Holy Spirit?
One of His primary activities is to cleanse us from sin and to sanctify us for holy work.
Paul reminded the Corinthians:
“But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” — 1 Corinthians 6:11
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall beMake it your aim to sense, see, and hear the Spirit of God.
Would you use a two-legged tripod? Two-wheeled trike? Two-sided prism? Of course not.
Avail yourself of all God has to offer.
Fix your heart on this promise: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1:8).

That’s often what holds us back from stepping out on a limb and introducing ourselves to someone new. It’s always easier when a mutual friend makes the introduction for us. Thankfully Jesus, who knows the Holy Spirit better than anyone, has already introduced us to Him. Jesus tells the disciples that He “will pray the Father”, and “He will give you another Helper.” He was with His disciples at the Last Supper, hours before He was to be crucified, and He had just told them He was going away. Imagine what the disciples thought when they heard their leader would be gone soon.

That’s often what holds us back from stepping out on a limb and introducing ourselves to someone new.
It’s always easier when a mutual friend makes the introduction for us.
Thankfully Jesus, who knows the Holy Spirit better than anyone, has already introduced us to Him.
As we read in today’s verse, Jesus tells the disciples that He “will pray the Father” (the Greek word pray literally means ask), and “He will give you another Helper.”
Do you know what was about to happen when Jesus made this introduction?
Church Of The Living Word, 4015 Camino De Verdad, Weslaco, TX (2020)He was with His disciples at the Last Supper, mere hours before He was to be crucified, and He had just told them He was going away.
Imagine what the disciples thought when they heard their leader would be gone soon.
There was probably some uncertainty and maybe even some fear about what would happen after He left.
Many of us have probably experienced a similar feeling after the loss of a parent, friend, or mentor.
But Jesus assured them they wouldn’t be alone, and the Helper (the Holy Spirit) would be with them to help them keep His commandments.
In verse 17, Jesus goes even further and says, “But you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
He’s telling the disciples that they already know Him.
The Helper | HOPE & LIGHTJesus’ message to the disciples is still true for us today.
And as we’ll discover in the next few days and weeks, we can develop a deep relationship with the Holy Spirit.
He wants to be our Helper and closest friend. And just as Jesus told the disciples, we can have peace knowing we’re never alone because the Holy Spirit dwells in us and with us.
Isn’t it amazing to know that God sent the Holy Spirit not just for the disciples but for us as well?
He’s not an inaccessible God that we cannot reach. He’s right here with us, and He desires a close relationship with us.
Have you met my best friend, the Holy Spirit?
If not, now is the perfect time. His presence in your life can change everything.

Memory Verse
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you." - John 14:16–17 (KJV)
