FIGHTING SPIRITUAL WARFARE - When you’re being attacked, it’s proof that you’re a believer. The more you make an impact for God, the more the Devil is going to fight you. You never outgrow it; it just gets more intense. Most believers don’t understand about the authority they have against the Devil. We have all authority in Heaven and on Earth. He transfers the authority to you and me. He does that because he’s given us a specific mission: sharing the message of Jesus as his ambassadors. Paul used the Roman centurion as a model for spiritual armor. Paul says that just as the Roman soldier was properly dressed to do battle, we also need to be dressed for battle. The battlefield for spiritual warfare is primarily in your thought life. The weapons God gives you to demolish arguments are humility, faith, truth, and praise. Take every thought captive! When you feel attacked by the Devil, what does your authority in Christ give you the power to do? How does memorizing Scripture help you engage in spiritual warfare? We’re told to “take captive every thought.”

Four Steps to Fighting Spiritual Warfare
BY RICK WARREN

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12 NIV).

Image result for images Steps to Fighting Spiritual WarfareThere are four things we need to do when we are facing spiritual warfare in our lives:
1. Acknowledge the adversary. Satan is real (1 Peter 5:8-9).
Why would God send his Son to fight what does not exist?
The Bible says in 1 John 3:8, “The Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil” (NLT).
When you’re being attacked, it’s proof that you’re a believer.
The more you make an impact for God, the more the Devil is going to fight you. You never outgrow it; it just gets more intense.
2. Accept God-given authority. Most believers don’t understand about the authority they have against the Devil.
Matthew 28:18-19 says we have all authority in Heaven and on Earth.
Then Jesus says, “Therefore go and make disciples” (NIV).
He transfers the authority to you and me. He does that because he’s given us a specific mission: sharing the message of Jesus as his ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20).
3. Put on God’s armor. When Paul wrote about the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6:11-17, he was in prison chained to a Roman guard.
Paul used the Roman centurion as a model for spiritual armor.
Paul says that just as the Roman soldier was properly dressed to do battle, we also need to be dressed for battle.
For instance, I will often pray, “Lord, I put on the helmet of salvation that will protect me from the thoughts the Devil will try to give me. I don’t want to think the Devil’s thoughts. I don’t want to think my thoughts. I want to think your thoughts, so that I may be a voice for you. I put on the belt of truth. Lord, I want to share the truth, not falsehood. I want to lead people into righteousness.”
4. Aim the artillery. The battlefield for spiritual warfare is primarily in your thought life (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
The weapons God gives you to demolish arguments are humility, faith, truth, and praise. Take every thought captive!
Talk It Over
·        When you feel attacked by the Devil, what does your authority in Christ give you the power to do?
·        How does memorizing Scripture help you engage in spiritual warfare?
·            We’re told to “take captive every thought” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV) — what do you think that means?

MEMORIZING SCRIPTURE - A Simple, Almost Effortless Way To Memorize Scripture - The best and easiest way for me to memorize Scripture has always been when Scriptures are set to music. My approach is very simple. I play and sing the verses from start to finish and include the reference and repeat 2 times. No long musical intros, no instrumental solos. No repeating part of the verse before going to the next part. Straight through beginning to end. Just me and my guitar. These Scripture songs aren’t fancy. I’m not going to win any Grammies for these. But my goal is to help as many people as I can to memorize God’s word. For a number of years, I did this and with the help of many others recorded “Hide the Word” Scripture songs. Recently I’ve been working on some new Scripture Songs – I think these will make it even easier to memorize Bible verses. You can listen to these songs on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube. They’re still available on CD at Forever Grateful Music.com.

Memorizing Scripture

A Simple, Almost Effortless Way To Memorize Scripture
by Mark Altrogge

I have sought to memorize Bible verses for many years, and I can’t tell you what an incredible blessing God’s word has been to me.
Through God’s Word he has encouraged me, filled me with hope, delivered me from temptations, given me guidance and direction, and so so much more.
And the best and easiest way for me to memorize Scripture has always been when Scriptures are set to music.
For a number of years, I did this and with the help of many others recorded “Hide the Word” Scripture songs.
You can listen to these songs on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube. They’re still available on CD at Forever Grateful Music.com.
Recently I’ve been working on some new Scripture Songs – I think these will make it even easier to memorize Bible verses.
Here’s a sample:
Right now I have 11 passages of Scripture you can start memorizing if you like. You can see them all here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe85dXNGCz6D-2XRGVIIWyA?view_as=public
Click on “Playlists” to see all the Scripture songs I’ve posted so far. If you play one, after it finishes it will go to the next one.
Each Scripture song displays the words along with it, and on the YouTube page, each Scripture song has not only the Bible verses, but the guitar chords as well.
And I tried to show my guitar fingering in the videos too.
Most mornings I start my day with about 10 minutes of working on Scripture memory before reading God’s word and praying.
I have found that listening to Scriptures set to music makes memorizing them almost effortless.
I need to listen to the songs over and over, but eventually they imbed themselves in my memory.
Just like popular music. If you listen to a song 20 times or more, you will eventually be able to memorize it.
Give them a try! I’m not a YouTube expert, but I believe if you subscribe, new videos will show up in your subscription feed and you will get notifications of new videos.
Thanks for checking them out!
