MEMORIZING SCRIPTURE - A Simple, Almost Effortless Way To Memorize Scripture - The best and easiest way for me to memorize Scripture has always been when Scriptures are set to music. My approach is very simple. I play and sing the verses from start to finish and include the reference and repeat 2 times. No long musical intros, no instrumental solos. No repeating part of the verse before going to the next part. Straight through beginning to end. Just me and my guitar. These Scripture songs aren’t fancy. I’m not going to win any Grammies for these. But my goal is to help as many people as I can to memorize God’s word. For a number of years, I did this and with the help of many others recorded “Hide the Word” Scripture songs. Recently I’ve been working on some new Scripture Songs – I think these will make it even easier to memorize Bible verses. You can listen to these songs on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube. They’re still available on CD at Forever Grateful Music.com.

Memorizing Scripture

A Simple, Almost Effortless Way To Memorize Scripture
by Mark Altrogge

I have sought to memorize Bible verses for many years, and I can’t tell you what an incredible blessing God’s word has been to me.
Through God’s Word he has encouraged me, filled me with hope, delivered me from temptations, given me guidance and direction, and so so much more.
And the best and easiest way for me to memorize Scripture has always been when Scriptures are set to music.
For a number of years, I did this and with the help of many others recorded “Hide the Word” Scripture songs.
You can listen to these songs on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube. They’re still available on CD at Forever Grateful Music.com.
Recently I’ve been working on some new Scripture Songs – I think these will make it even easier to memorize Bible verses.
Here’s a sample:
Right now I have 11 passages of Scripture you can start memorizing if you like. You can see them all here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe85dXNGCz6D-2XRGVIIWyA?view_as=public
Click on “Playlists” to see all the Scripture songs I’ve posted so far. If you play one, after it finishes it will go to the next one.
Each Scripture song displays the words along with it, and on the YouTube page, each Scripture song has not only the Bible verses, but the guitar chords as well.
And I tried to show my guitar fingering in the videos too.
Most mornings I start my day with about 10 minutes of working on Scripture memory before reading God’s word and praying.
I have found that listening to Scriptures set to music makes memorizing them almost effortless.
I need to listen to the songs over and over, but eventually they imbed themselves in my memory.
Just like popular music. If you listen to a song 20 times or more, you will eventually be able to memorize it.
Give them a try! I’m not a YouTube expert, but I believe if you subscribe, new videos will show up in your subscription feed and you will get notifications of new videos.
Thanks for checking them out!
