IN THE EYE OF THE STORM - We all face storms in life - In times of struggle we can withdraw inwardly and focus so much on the problems at hand we lose sight of what is going on around us. While each of us may be facing things on a daily basis that we’d rather not deal with, others around us are going through things as well. The struggles of others may not seem as significant to us, because they are not our struggles. No matter where you are in life, there are always others who could use your kind intervention. There are lots of ways you can do this. Maybe you can spend just a few minutes with them and learn a little bit about them. You can let them know that someone is thinking about them. God calls us to love one another. He wants us to care about others because He cares about us.

We all face storms in life …
Author: KSV

When we are being buffeted about by life, it is so easy to become focused on what we perceive as the storm.
No surprise there. After all, it is us and we are feeling it.
As essential to “us” as our struggles seem, and don’t get me wrong, what we go through is important, there remains an infinite universe around us.
In times of struggle we can withdraw inwardly and focus so much on the problems at hand we lose sight of what is going on around us.
While each of us may be facing things on a daily basis that we’d rather not deal with, others around us are going through things as well.
The struggles of others may not seem as significant to us, because they are not our struggles.
We may think, “Too bad for them, but man I’ve got this to deal with.”
We don’t possess the intimate detail of other’s lives because they are not our own.
Something I’ve always found helpful in such times in to take time to invest in others.
No matter where you are in life, there are always others who could use your kind intervention.
There are lots of ways you can do this.
You can drop by to visit. You can send them a card or call them. You can meet for lunch or a cup of coffee.
Maybe you see a homeless person on a regular basis in your daily travels. You can give them some food.
Maybe you can spend just a few minutes with them and learn a little bit about them. You can let them know that someone is thinking about them.
It isn’t the size that matters, but the expression of your heart towards the receiver. Think of those times when someone has done the same for you. It made you feel good. It warmed your heart.
God calls us to love one another. He wants us to care about others because He cares about us.
He cares about us so much He sent His Son to die for us so we can have eternal life. So, what can each of us do that reflects His love?
Perhaps it is simply the next best thing.
Today we may face many challenges.
We are not alone. I want to encourage you to consider how you might bless someone with even a small act of kindness to show them they are remembered.
Just like you and me, they have value outside what they may be going through.
I believe you will find this lifts love in your own heart and blesses you as well.
Peace.
