“your Father
knows that you need these things”

“. . . it
is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Luke
12:32).
Our needs can all be met through
the Kingdom of God. No other group of people on earth has access to this
marvelous treasury.
Yet so many believers do not turn
to the Kingdom for their needs. Why?
Luke
12:22-32 says, "Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I
say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the
body, what you will put on.
"23 Life is
more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
"24 Consider
the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor
barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the
birds?
"25 And
which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
"26 If you
then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
"27 Consider
the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you,
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
"28 If then
God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown
into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?
"29 And do
not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious
mind.
"30 For all
these things the nations of the world [gentiles, or people
without a covenant] seek after, and your Father
knows that you need these things.
"31 But seek
the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
"32 Do not
fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the
kingdom."
We need to be like the ravens
[birds] in verse 24, we must work hard to find the hidden treasures.
The word "raven"
comes from a root word, which means, "to eat enough to be full and
satisfied."
Birds work hard for their food.
They must arise early and fly to a field where there are worms.
They must dig for the worm. They
must fly back to their nest with the worm.
This is not easy work, but it is
still not like the work of the gentiles [unbelievers], because the Word says
that God feeds the birds.
In other words, the Lord has much
pleasure in hiding the worms for the birds. He feeds them, yet He expects them
to work to find what He has hidden.
In the same way God feeds us. He
does not come and drop grapes in our mouths, but He hides our treasures like He
hides the worms.
Our treasures, our
"worms" are Kingdom things.
They include the presence of God,
the secrets and mysteries in the Word of God, and understanding the
way God is dealing with us in the circumstances of life.
It takes hard work to find these
hidden treasures. It takes diligent seeking on a daily basis. Worms won’t keep
overnight.
Jesus and Paul often prayed
several times before receiving an answer. It takes "pressing in" to
the Word and prayer to mine out these treasures.
“If you
seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasure;” - Proverbs
2:4
“That I
may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their
treasuries.” - Proverbs 8:21
"Do
not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Luke 12:32).
The issue is anxiety and worry.
This can apply to almost anything in our lives, anything that is a genuine felt
need.
The gentiles [people who have no
covenant with God] spend their whole lives seeking these things. Just look
around and see what most people are spending most of their
time doing.
"Consider
the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin.”
Lilies grow because they contain
life. We contain the life of God.
We are to be like the birds and the
lilies, not the gentiles.

Jesus said “it is to my
father’s glory that you bear much fruit.” He desires us to be fruitful in our
everyday lives. To make a difference outside the walls of the church, to change
lives and impact a world around us with His love. To be a church that really
cares, really loves, and a church where people… they really matter.
We as a people are in a time
and season where our entire world is covered with substitutions, counterfeit
everything. A watching world, though it may not believe in the one who created them,
are created with a void to only be filled with the awareness and knowing of
God. They are not looking for another event, show or entertainment, but
authentic encounters with the God that created them in His own image. As “Iron
Sharpens Iron” they spur each other on in growth and a walk with God. We are to
no longer simply be a “Christian” but more than that, a “Follower” of Christ. A
community that is creating fruit bearers, teaching one to lead every member a
minister, and the priesthood of all believers. It is recognizing every man and
women’s desire to be used of God. A village that will raise the children and
teach them in the way they should go. Friends who will hold their friends
accountable and women who will journey with other women. A fellowship of
believers that believe in healing, and of the deliverance of the oppressed and
tormented. Teaching our children that our God is not a God of history alone,
but a God of now.
