THE MUSIC OF OUR SPIRITUAL DNA - Just like with physical DNA, God has written the formula on our spiritual DNA of what we have the potential to become in this life. Our spiritual DNA has been designed for God's purposes. It is an individual's choice to receive this revelation and apply it to our lives. It is up to the individual to not only recognize God's spiritual DNA in our lives, but to activate our destiny for godly purposes rather than for evil or self-fulfilling purposes. He is calling for us to be reconnected and united with him — which is the purpose for which we were created. “For you formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, {And} skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained {for me,} When as yet there was not one of them” - God places a piece of himself into every person who is born. Genesis 1:27 states, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Just like with physical DNA, God has written the formula on our spiritual DNA of what we have the potential to become in this life. Our spiritual DNA has been designed for God's purposes.

The Music of Our Spiritual DNA

Just like with physical DNA, God has written the formula on our spiritual DNA of what we have the potential to become in this life. “For you formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, {And} skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained {for me,} When as yet there was not one of them” - (Psalm 139:13–16 NASU).

God places a piece of himself into every person who is born.

Genesis 1:27 states, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."

Just like with physical DNA, God has written the formula on our spiritual DNA of what we have the potential to become in this life.

Our spiritual DNA has been designed for God's purposes.

He reveals sin and error in our dreams and gives us the choice to replace them with power, anointing, revelation, and the ability to overcome.

It is an individual's choice to receive this revelation and apply it to our lives.

However, when it comes to our spiritual DNA (our destiny) we each get to choose what forces will influence our destiny the most — self, darkness, or God's light.

It is up to the individual to not only recognize God's spiritual DNA in our lives, but to activate our destiny for godly purposes rather than for evil or self-fulfilling purposes.

Before I moved to Texas, God revealed a powerful truth to me about spiritual DNA.

I had a spiritual encounter in a dream in which I was visited by someone who said that he had been sent to change my spiritual DNA and he was going to give me a blood transfusion for my next spiritual assignment.

The interpretation of the dream revealed that it was given to prepare me for a change in location.

Different geographic regions and states require a shift in our thinking, body metabolism, and even the sound frequency we will release to come into harmony with the new assignments God is giving us.

Like musical instruments, we have to be fine-tuned and polished in order to harmonize with the new seasons God has for us.

We must resonate with a new sound for a new season and assignment, otherwise we will be off-key and the favor of man will not be extended to us.

The Deep Places of God

“Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; all Your waves and billows have gone over me. The lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me – A prayer to the God of my life” -  (Psalm 42:7–8).

This Scripture depicts the truth that the deep places of God call out to the deep places of himself that he put within each of us.

He is calling for us to be reconnected and united with him — which is the purpose for which we were created.

Although the concept of deep calling to deep between God and us is difficult to understand, quantum physics shows a similar scientific perspective of how different forms of matter give off unique vibrations.

All matter is made up of elements, elements are made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of electrons, protons, and neutrons.

There are twelve major subatomic particles known to man.

They consist of six uncharged particles called leptons, and six charged particles called quarks.

Physicists have also identified five particles that carry an invisible power force, known as bosons.

All these particles are associated with light and exist in the invisible realm.

The evasive Higgs boson, better known as the "God particle," has a subatomic mass between 115 and 160 giga-electron volts.

This particle is lighter than an atom of gold, but a little heavier than an atom of silver.

The God particle boson is believed to be the force that holds everything in the universe together.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” - (John 1:1–5 NKJV)

“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live” - (1 Corinthians 8:6 NKJV).

“And to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ.” - (Ephesians 3:9 NKJV).

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” - (Colossians 1:16–17 NKJV).

When I learned of the invisible boson God particle, its mass being around that of silver and gold atoms, as well as its power to hold things together, I was reminded of the Scripture passage where the man crippled from birth was healed.

Then Peter said, "’Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’ And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and anklebones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them — walking, leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God” (Acts 3:6–9 NKJV).

Could it be that Peter and John's healing declaration tapped into the faith realm, and the invisible power of the God particle gave strength to a crippled man's bones?

The greatest power in the universe is love.

MAKING MELODY - The Spirit-filled saint is a song–filled saint! Animals can’t sing. Neither can pews or pulpits or Bibles or buildings — only you. And your melody is broadcasted right into heaven, where God’s antenna is always receptive . . . where the soothing strains of your song are always appreciated. Whenever and whatever you sing, concentrate on the words. If it helps, close your eyes. Sing often with a friend or members of your family. It helps break down all sorts of invisible barriers. You might even sing before grace at mealtime in the evening - that is so enjoyable, you may get addicted, I warn you - “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” - Everybody knows 5:18, where we are told “be filled with the Spirit.” But have you ever noticed that verse 18 ends with a comma, not a period? The next verse describes the very first result of being under the Spirit’s control: WE SING! We make melody with our hearts. We communicate His presence within us by presenting our own, individual Concert of Sacred Music to Him. Ephesians 5 never once refers to a church building. We Christians have so centralized our singing that we seldom engage in it once we walk away from a service. Chances are, you didn’t even sing before or after you had your time with the Lord any day of the week. Why? The Spirit-filled saint is a song–filled saint!

Making Melody

Pastor Chuck Swindoll

“speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” - Ephesians 5:19

God’s sharp sword stabbed me deeply this week.

I was on a scriptural hunt in the Ephesian letter.

I was searching for a verse totally unrelated to the one that sliced its way into me.

It was another of those verses I feel sorry for (like John 3:17 and 1 John 1:10 — look ’em up).

This was Ephesians 5:19: “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.”

Everybody knows 5:18, where we are told “be filled with the Spirit.”

But have you ever noticed that verse 18 ends with a comma, not a period?

The next verse describes the very first result of being under the Spirit’s control: WE SING!

We make melody with our hearts.

We communicate His presence within us by presenting our own, individual Concert of Sacred Music to Him.

Now let’s go further.

Ephesians 5 never once refers to a church building.

I mention that because we Christians have so centralized our singing that we seldom engage in it once we walk away from a service.

Stop and think.

Did you sing on the way home last Sunday night?

How about Monday, when you drove to work . . . or around the supper table . . . or Tuesday as you dressed for the day?

Chances are, you didn’t even sing before or after you had your time with the Lord any day of the week.

Why?

The Spirit-filled saint is a song–filled saint!

Animals can’t sing.

Neither can pews or pulpits or Bibles or buildings — only you.

And your melody is broadcasted right into heaven, where God’s antenna is always receptive . . .

where the soothing strains of your song are always appreciated.

If Martin Luther were alive today, he’d be heartsick.

That rugged warrior of the faith had two basic objectives when he fired the reformation cannon into the sixteenth–century wall of spiritual ignorance.

First, to give the people a Bible they could read on their own, and

second, to give them a hymnal from which they could sing on their own.

The Bible we have, and its words we read.

The hymnal we have — but where, oh, where has the melody gone?

We simply do not sing as often as we ought . . . and therein lies the blame and the shame.

Let me offer five corrective suggestions:

Whenever and whatever you sing, concentrate on the words. If it helps, close your eyes.

Make a definite effort to add one or two songs to your day.

Remind yourself, periodically, of the words of a chorus or hymn you love and add them to your driving schedule or soap–and–shower time.

Sing often with a friend or members of your family.

It helps break down all sorts of invisible barriers. You might even sing before grace at mealtime in the evening.

That is so enjoyable, you may get addicted, I warn you.

Blow the dust off your tape or CD player and put on some beautiful music around the house.

Just watch what happens to the atmosphere when you do this. And don’t forget to sing along and add your own harmony and “special” effects.

Never mind how beautiful or pitiful you may sound.

You are not auditioning for the choir, you’re making melody with your heart.

SING OUT!

If you listen closely when you’re through, you may hear the hosts of heaven shouting for joy.

Then again, it might be your neighbor . . . screaming for relief.

5 Ways to Know if It's God's Voice
Thoughts from our own minds are progressive, with one thought leading to the next. Thoughts from the spirit world are spontaneous. True words from the Lord will bubble up from our innermost being. God will never say something to you personally that is contrary to His universal revelation as expressed in the Scriptures. Anything God says to you will be in harmony with His essential nature. Words from the Lord will quicken your faith and increase your love, peace and joy - they will stimulate a sense of humility within you as you become more aware of who God is and who you are
Mark Virkler

It can be hard to differentiate between the voice of God and our own thoughts. Here are five key tests to help you recognize which is which.
1)    Test the origin (1 John 4:1). Thoughts from our own minds are progressive, with one thought leading to the next, however tangentially.
Thoughts from the spirit world are spontaneous.
The Hebrew word for true prophecy is naba, which literally means "to bubble up," whereas false prophecy is ziyd, meaning "to boil up."
True words from the Lord will bubble up from our innermost being; we don't need to cook them up ourselves
2)    Compare it to biblical principles. God will never say something to you personally that is contrary to His universal revelation as expressed in the Scriptures.
If the Bible clearly states that something is a sin, no amount of journaling can make it right.
Much of what you journal about will not be specifically addressed in the Bible, however, so an understanding of biblical principles is also needed.
3)    Compare it to the names and character of God as revealed in the Bible.
Anything God says to you will be in harmony with His essential nature.
Journaling will help you get to know God personally, but knowing what the Bible says about Him will help you discern what words are from Him.
Make sure the tenor of your journaling lines up with the character of God as described in the Names of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
4)    Test the fruit (Matthew 7:15-20). What effect does what you are hearing have on your soul and your spirit?
Words from the Lord will quicken your faith and increase your love, peace and joy.
They will stimulate a sense of humility within you as you become more aware of who God is and who you are.
On the other hand, any words you receive that elicit fear or doubt, that bring you into confusion or anxiety or that stroke your ego (especially if you hear something that is "just for you alone — no one else is worthy") must be immediately rebuked and rejected as lies of the enemy.
5)    Share it with your spiritual counselors (Proverbs 11:14). We are members of the body of Christ.
We weren't designed or called to walk alone. Nothing will increase your faith in your ability to hear from God like having it confirmed by two or three other people!
Share what you've heard with your spouse, your parents, your friends, your elder, your group leader or even your grown children.
They don't need to be perfect or super-spiritual to be your sounding board; they just need to love you, be committed to being available to you, have a solid biblical orientation and, most important, they must also willingly and easily receive counsel.
Avoid the authoritarian who insists that because of their standing in the church or with God, they no longer need to listen to others.
Find two or three people and let them confirm that you are hearing from God.

Mark and Patti Virkler have been married and active in ministry since 1972. Both received their Bachelor degrees from Roberts Wesleyan College and have also earned Master and Doctoral degrees. Together they have co-authored over 60 revelation based books in the areas of hearing God's voice and Spirit-anointed living.
