The valley gets it name from the Elah
tree, a type of oak or terebinth tree.
Travelers from near
and far visit the Valley of Elah.
This amazing place is
home to an epic Biblical battle.
The Bible paints a
beautiful picture of where the Israelites camped when David fought Goliath.
As Goliath moved
closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him.
Reaching into his
shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the
Philistine in the forehead.
The stone sank in,
and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.
So, David triumphed
over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. (1 Samuel 17:48-50
NLT)
Think of any
challenges or trials in your life and then put yourself in David’s shoes.
Against all odds, he
stood up to Goliath and won.
This is true in our
lives too.
With God on our side,
who can be against us?
As you visit the
Valley of Elah, be refreshed that whatever you face you can overcome, because
God is with you and will never abandon you.
In addition to the
epic Biblical event that took place, the Valley of Elah hosts rolling hills
where adventurers can enjoy hikes teaming surrounded by flora and fauna.
You will not be
disappointed with your visit here as it is truly one of the country’s best-kept
secrets.
There are plenty of
monasteries and vineyards to visit while you’re here, as well.
