WHEN GOD STRENGTHENS US - Have you ever been criticized as you served God? Though this is frustrating, it is important to remember that His opinion is the only one that matters - critics come and go but God’s work continues — for your benefit and for His glory - Elinor learned that Kathy, her assistant at work, was saying that she could do a better job than Elinor. Yet Elinor chose not to respond, but instead continued to do her job as well as she could. She also asked God to give her extra strength, and then she left everything in His hands. Nehemiah did something similar. “They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, ‘Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.’ But I prayed, ‘Now strengthen my hands’” (Nehemiah 6:9). Nehemiah’s critics were a real threat to his restoration work, yet he disregarded them. He just kept working as he asked God for increased strength and direction. Have you ever been criticized as you served God? Though this is frustrating, it is important to remember that His opinion is the only one that matters. Indeed, critics come and go but God’s work continues — for your benefit and for His glory. Prayer Suggestion: Lord, help me remember that faultfinders are temporary while Your Word and plans are forever.
