Kundalini Awakening
or
Really Demonic Possession?
.
the
kundalini is depicted as a serpent - the Bible reads that Satan, the adversary,
is a serpent. Satan is in the form of a serpent who deceives Eve - he is described
as subtle (or crafty) and tempts Eve with the lie that she will be like gods.
That sounds awfully similar to what kundalini promises practitioners – to
achieve godhood or to become one with the divine. Indeed, many yogis often
declare themselves to have achieved “self-realization” – the acknowledgment of
one’s own unity with Brahman, the “Universal Divine consciousness”
Jamaal Williams
Many people are seeking some supernatural
thrill to fulfill them instead of going to the living God of the Bible.
I believe since all people without Christ
have a spiritual vacuum within themselves, they will seek spiritual experiences
in hopes it will fulfill them.
Satan has his snares for those seeking such
experiences.
One of which is called kundalini awakening
(also called kundalini activation or kundalini arousal), which is basically the
event where the kundalini “takes over” a person, or when it rises from the base
of the spine to the top of his head.
There are a plethora of Youtube videos about
how to have a kundalini awakening. Many of these videos have hundreds of
thousands of views.
There are many websites that promote it and
have been numerous books written about it.
My contention is that kundalini is nothing
more than a demon or an evil spirit and that it is extremely dangerous to have
a kundalini awakening.
This so-called awakening is a deception for
people to allow themselves to be demonized since a lot of times demons can’t
just enter inside of a person but needs an open “door” to go through.
These doors are easily opened by New Age and
occult practices.
The promises of the benefits of kundalini are
bait for the enemy to snare a victim through demonization as Satan’s demons
have a desire to inhabit a human body (read Mark 5:1-13; Matthew 12:43-45).
This is the antithesis of one filled with the
Holy Spirit (Ephesians
5:18) in
which born again Christians have when they repent and turn to the Lord Jesus
Christ.
What Exactly is Kundalini?
From a Christian perspective it seems to be
an evil spirit, but how do non-Christians describe it?
They described it as an energy “life force”
or spiritual energy. It has been part of the belief system of many cultures for
centuries.
In Japan, it is known as Ki, which is the
source of the word Reiki.
In traditional Chinese culture, it is called
qi, chi or ch’i.
Mana to the Hawaiians is a form of spiritual
energy.
In Sanskrit, Prana is the word for “life
force”, and Shakti means strength, psychic energy, or life force.
According to various teachings, kundalini is
a type of “corporeal energy”.
The well-known occult book entitled Serpent
Power: The Secrets of Tantric and Shaktic Yoga by Arthur Avalon (Sir John
Woodroffe) writes on the back cover [emphasis mine]:
“Who is Kundalini,
the Serpent Power? Mythologically, she is an aspect of shakti (power or energy)
and consort of Shiva. Philosophically she is the creative energy that forms
mind and matter, and comes to rest in the lowest form of matter. She is
consciousness: the power of matter to know itself. In terms of Tantric
practice, she is the mysterious power that resides in the human body and can be
awakened by suitable techniques: special meditations and yogic practices of a
particularly powerful nature. She is The Goddess: the ultimate heart of many
areas of Eastern religion, not only of Hinduism.”
One website that promotes kundalini reads [emphasis mine]:
“These names refer to
the Kundalini-Sakti, or Supreme Power in the human body by the arousing of
which the Yoga is achieved… by the agency of the KundaliniSakti, which, in
order to give it an English name, I have here called Serpent Power. Kundala
means coiled. The power is the Goddess (Devi) Kundalini, or that which is
coiled; for Her form is that of a coiled and sleeping serpent in the lowest
bodily centre, at the base of the spinal column, until by the means described
She is aroused in that Yoga which is named after Her.”
But this energy is also described as having
an intelligence [emphasis
mine]:
“The unique
perspective of Siddha Mahayoga is that because kundalini is an intelligent
force it will, upon awakening, naturally direct the practice of the student.
All that is required is that the student completely surrender to this force. As
a result of kundalini’s unfoldment spontaneous purifying movements, called
kriyas will occur…”
Why would some supposed mere impersonal force
seem to have an intelligence? Perhaps it isn’t a mere force but an actual
spirit, albeit an evil one.
Another website reads [emphasis mine]:
The Shaktipat Master
is a vessel for transmission, Goddess is the source… I do not care for the term
“kundalini Master”, because it suggests mastery of Goddess, … control of it,
and that is an ego illusion. One does not Master kundalini, one steps aside and
allows it to do its work through you, as the vessel.
How can one be so trusting of an energy that
seems to have intelligence and to totally yield to it?
Gopi Krishna in his book, The Awakening of
Kundalini (pages
13-14),
says kundalini is traditionally known as [emphasis mine],
“… Durga the
creatrix, Chandi the fierce and bloodthirsty, and Kali the destroyer. She is
also Bhajangi the serpent. As Chandi or Kali she has a garland of skulls around
her neck and drinks human blood.”
Another website reads
that the snake “is the most common and most well recognized symbol of
Kundalini energy.”
A Coincidence it is a Snake or Serpent?
Isn’t that interesting? Out
of all the things in the universe, the kundalini is depicted as a serpent.
The Bible reads that Satan,
the adversary, is a serpent.
He is described as
subtle (or crafty) and tempts Eve with the lie that she will be like gods.
That sounds awfully
similar to what kundalini promises practitioners – to achieve godhood or to
become one with the divine.
Indeed, many yogis
often declare themselves to have achieved “self-realization” – the
acknowledgment of one’s own unity with Brahman, the “Universal Divine
consciousness”.
The Bible reads in
Genesis 3:1-5: “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field
which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye
shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
“And the woman said
unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of
the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye
shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
“And the serpent said
unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye
eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil.”
In the Bible Satan is described as the
deceiver of the whole world (Revelation 12:9), but again also a serpent:
“And the great dragon
was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth
the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out
with him.”
Kundalini is also called the destroyer.
Interesting because in Revelation 11:9 it reads there is an evil spirit in the
pit, who some believe to be the devil:
“And they had a king
over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew
tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.”
In Hebrew, the name “Abaddon” means
“place of destruction”; the Greek title “Apollyon” literally means “The
Destroyer.”
Also, in John 10:10, Jesus said of Satan that
he comes to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
How People Open Themselves to Receive
Kundalini
How do people try to what they call have a
kundalini awakening?
By listening to biaurnal beats, meditation,
chanting, breathing exercises, receiving a shaktipat (triggered by an advanced
spiritual teacher or guru), or the practice of yoga among other ways.
Indeed, the awakening of kundalini energy is the
ultimate aim of all yoga practice.
Hans Ulrich Rieker,
an author of numerous books and well-known authority on yoga and meditation,
says: “Kundalini [is] the mainstay of all yoga practices” (The Yoga of Light:
Hatha Yoga Pradipika, 101).
Kundalini awakenings can happen spontaneously
when one has been involved in New Age or occult practices, even when he wasn’t
seeking it.
They can also occur as a result of drug
experiences.
During so-called kundalini arousal, the
experiences may last for months or even years, in which case a long time of
insanity and/or demonization is endured.
According to Christian authors John Ankerberg
and John Weldon, kundalini arousal or its equivalent are found in many false
religions, occult practices, and in New Age medicine:
… it is… encountered
in scores of the new religions, many occult practices, and in some practices of
New Age medicine. Indeed, we have found no less than 15 different New Age
health techniques in which proponents claim that their methods may arouse kundalini.
For example, certain body work programs such as the Alexander method may arouse
kundalini…
The Purpose or Goal of Kundalini
According to Indian yogis and numerous New
Age and occult practitioners from many different fields, the awakening of
kundalini is a highly desirable and beneficial transformation that people
undergo on their spiritual journey.
They say that people just need to “let go”,
and “surrender to”, and “trust through this process”.
While many people sincerely and
wholeheartedly believe this, vast amounts of occult literature warn that this
so-called “awakening” is not without extreme dangers.
Even practitioners themselves who have
endorsed it recount their horrible experiences (more details about this later).
But according to
Swami Prajananda, “The main purpose of its awakening in a seeker is to
enable him to attain Godhood.”
Interestingly enough, the devil’s primal
rebellion was precisely about his desire to be “as God,” and he even offered
Eve the same tantalizing perspective (Genesis 3:4-5; Isaiah 14:12-14).
It is not surprising that the enemy, Satan,
would make demonization look like godhood, and call it a kundalini awakening,
enlightenment, higher consciousness or whatever other enticing buzz words
thrown around to try to hook people.
Kundalini is a Worldwide Phenomena
It is called by many different names around
the world but in the end, it is always viewed as a “force”, “energy” or “power”
– common terms one would hear in the world of the New Age.
Kundalini energy, the foundation, and core of
Hinduism’s pantheistic belief system is the exact same power that fuels
idolatry and the open worship of demons in countless other religions, not just
in Hinduism.
Ankerberg and Weldon wrote:
In our study of 70
new religions, we found kundalini arousal, or something similar, in roughly 50
percent of them, particularly the mystical, New Age, occult religions… For
example, Hindu and Buddhist gurus, who account for scores of the new religions,
are typically possessed by spirits. They often describe themselves in that
manner, although they refer to it as a ‘divinizing’ – not a demonizing-
process… But when describing their spirit, or ‘energy,’ possession, it is often
directly linked to kundalini activity…. Whether it is called “superamental
consciousness,” ‘god-possession,’ ‘divine companionship,’ or some other
euphemism, the reality is the same.
Consciousness researcher John White concludes:
Although the word
Kundalini comes from the yogic tradition, nearly all the world’s major
religions, spiritual paths, and genuine occult traditions see something akin to
the kundalini experience as having significance in “divinizing” a person. The word
itself may not appear in the traditions, but the concept is there nevertheless,
wearing a different name yet recognizable as a key to attaining godlike
stature.
The Physical Manifestations of Kundalini
Mind you, the described (often horrific)
manifestations and symptoms of kundalini are not even from Christians but from
secular sources, many of which endorse kundalini.
This should be the most clear-cut evidence
that getting involved with kundalini is demonic in nature. Reading the
following is it worth the risks to get involved with this?
Teresa Bergen, who teaches yoga, wrote an
article called What Happens After Your kundalini Awakens?, said:
People describe
mental and physical symptoms when their Kundalini awakens. These include
trembling, spontaneous movement, and visual and auditory hallucinations, such
as hearing birds chirping or human voices. Some people spontaneously recite
mantras or make animal noises.
According to Dr. Bonnie Greenwell, a therapist
who works with people’s Kundalini energy, the feelings can be intense, but
aren’t usually painful.
However, Kundalini is unstoppable, and trying
to control it can cause pain.
Another website lists some other symptoms.
Yes, symptoms can include the feelings of bliss and laughter but it is merely a
counterfeit of true joy that can only be found in Jesus [emphasis mine]:
· Muscle twitches,
cramps or spasms.
· Energy rushes or
immense electricity circulating the body
· Itching, vibrating,
prickling, tingling, stinging or crawling sensations
· Intense heat or cold
· Involuntary bodily
movements (occur more often during meditation, rest or sleep): jerking,
tremors, shaking; feeling an inner force pushing one into postures or moving
one’s body in unusual ways. (May be
misdiagnosed as epilepsy, restless legs syndrome, or PLMD
· Episodes of extreme
hyperactivity or, conversely, overwhelming fatigue
· Emotional outbursts;
rapid mood shifts; seemingly unprovoked or excessive episodes of grief, fear,
rage, depression
· Spontaneous
vocalizations (including laughing and weeping) — are as unintentional and
uncontrollable as hiccoughs.
· Hearing an inner
sound or sounds, classically described as a flute, drum, waterfall, birds
singing, bees buzzing but which may also sound like roaring, whooshing, or
thunderous noises or like ringing in the ears.
· Mental confusion;
difficulty concentrating
· Altered states of
consciousness: heightened awareness; spontaneous trance states; mystical
experiences (if the individual’s prior belief system is too threatened by
these, they can lead to bouts of psychosis or self-grandiosity)
· Ecstasy, bliss and
intervals of tremendous joy, love, peace and compassion
· Psychic experiences:
extrasensory perception; out-of-body experiences; past life memories; astral
travel; direct awareness of auras and chakras; contact with spirit guides
through inner voices, dreams or visions; healing powers
Yet another website reveals about the
physical effects of kundalini, many of which are negative.
They have a name for when a person is what a
Christian would see as demonization. They call it kundalini syndrome (also
called kundalini psychosis).
A website promoting it reads [emphasis mine]:
“Kundalini syndrome
is a set of symptoms resulting from a near-death experience, intense trauma,
prolonged meditation or yogic practice, nervous breakdowns, or some other form
of spiritual emergency.
“Symptoms of this
syndrome are also thought to result from kundalini awakening, when it occurs unexpectedly
or the proper precautions are not followed.
“… Someone who
undertakes awakening their kundalini must be prepared though, as in rare cases
this energy can have negative effects – known as kundalini syndrome.”
This affliction can come on suddenly or signs
may appear gradually over time.
A person suffering from it might experience
any number of the following symptoms:
Physical:
· Headache
· Hallucinations
· Sensation that they
are vibrating
· Increased heart rate
· Sudden limb movements
· Respiratory problems
· Fever or chills
· Sudden pain
· Mental/Emotional:
· Intense fear and/or
paranoia
· Anxiety
· Bipolar mood
· Spontaneous out of
body experiences
· Deregulation of
thoughts
· Unexpected
trance-like states
· Altered states of
consciousness
What is even more sad is that they promote
the continuation of New Age practices to try receive deliverance from the
so-called kundalini syndrome:
“Because this issue
is related to harmful energetic responses within the body, the only way to stop
it is through energy healing. These methods include yoga, meditation,
controlled breathing, and opening the chakras. It may take some time to address
the negative energy in your body, and it’s best to do it slowly.”
Another website promoting kundalini reads [emphasis mine]:
Many people know that
the risen kundalini flings open gates to all sorts of mystical, paranormal and
magical vistas but few realize it can also dramatically impact the body. A
large percentage of Shared Transformation subscribers have reported long bouts
of strange illness as well as radical mental, emotional, interpersonal,
psychic, spiritual and lifestyle changes. Over and again we hear stories of
frustrating, sometimes desperate visits to doctors, healers, counselors, etc.
who neither understood nor were able to help with the myriad pains and problems
catalyzed by raging kundalini.
Here is a shocking admission:
Over and again we
hear stories of frustrating, sometimes desperate visits to doctors, healers,
counsellors, etc. who neither understood nor were able to help with the myriad
pains and problems catalysed by raging kundalini….
The Taoist “Master” Chao Pi Ch-en admitted
that,
as time passes,
demonic states will occur to the practiser [sic]… Significantly, yogic energy
manifesations and possession are sometimes intially sensed by the experiences
as the work of an evil spirit. But this primary impression is ‘corrected’ in
accordance with Hindu theory, classifying the phenomena as a ‘divine process’… (Encyclopedia of the
New Age, 609)
As you just read the symptoms of kundalini
can be harrowing.
Testimonies of the Dangers of Kundalini From
Practitioners
Eastern Guru Muktananda’s (1908-1982) own
so-called spiritual enlightenment, a path he endorsed to his disciples,
apparently involved the demonic.
In Muktananda’s own words [emphasis mine]:
I was assailed by all
sorts of perverse and defiling emotions. My body started to move, and went on
like this in a confused sort of way…. After a time, my breathing changed, becoming
disturbed. Sometimes my abdomen would swell with air, after which I would
exhale it with great force. Often the breath that I took in would be held
inside me. I became more and more frightened… my mind was sick with fear…
My thoughts became
confused, meaningless. My limbs and body got hotter and hotter. My head felt
heavy, and every pore in me began to ache. When I breathed out, my breath
stopped outside. When I breathed in, it stopped inside. This was terribly
painful and I lost my courage. Something told me that I would die at any
moment… I could not understand what was happening, how it was happening, who
was making it happen…
By now it was after
9:00. Someone had seated himself in my eyes and was making me see things… It
seemed that I was being controlled by some power which made me do all these
things. My intellect was completely unstable… I heard hordes of people
screaming frightfully… and saw strange creatures from six to fifty feet tall,
neither demons nor demigods, but human in form, dancing naked, their mouths
gaping open. Their screeching was horrible and apocalyptic… An army of ghosts
and demons surrounded me. All the while I was locked tight in the lotus
posture, my eyes closed, my chin pressed down against my throat so that no air
could escape.
Then I felt a searing
pain… I wanted to run away, but my legs were locked tight in the lotus posture.
I felt as if my legs had been nailed down permanently in this position. My arms
were completely immobilized…
Then, from over the
water, a moonlike sphere about four feet in diameter came floating in. It
stopped in front of me. This radiant, white ball struck against my eyes and
then passed inside me. I am writing this just as I saw it. It is not a dream or
an allegory, but a scene which actually happened–that sphere came down from the
sky and entered me…My tongue curled up against my palate, and my eyes closed. I
saw a dazzling light in my forehead and I was terrified. I was still lock in
the lotus posture, and then my head was forced down and glued to the ground…
I started to make a
sound like a camel, which alternated with the roaring of a tiger. I must have
roared very loudly, for the people around actually thought that a tiger had
gotten into the sugarcane field…
I am in a terrible
state. I have gone completely insane. You may not be able to see it from the
outside, but, inside, I am crazy…. My body began to twist… Now, it was not I
who meditated; meditation forced itself on me. It came spontaneously; it was in
all the joints of my body. Then, suddenly, a red light came before me with such
force that it seemed to have been living inside me. It was two feet tall and
shone brightly…
Every part of my body
was emitting loud crackling and popping sounds…
At this time, I
understood nothing about the various experiences…
Only afterward did I
learn that they were all part of the process pertaining to [spiritual
enlightenment]… People who have experienced it call it the awakening of the
Kundalini. The experiences I had had under the mango trees were due to the
grace of my Gurudev Nityananda; they were all his prasad [blessing]…
Sometimes I would
jump and hop like a frog, and sometimes my limbs would shake violently as
though shaken by a deity in the form of my guru had spread all through me as
Chiti [consciousness], and was shaking me with his inner Shakti [power]….
The power of the
guru’s grace enters the disciple’s body in a subtle form and does many great
things… Every day I had meditation like that. Sometimes my body would writhe
and twist like a snake’s, and a hissing sound would come from inside me…
Sometimes my neck
moved so violently that it made loud cracking sounds, and I became frightened…
I had many astonishing movements like this. Sometimes my neck would roll my
head around so vigorously that it would bend right below my shoulders so that I
could see my back. When the intensity lessened, I became peaceful again. But
because I did not understand these kriyas [spontaneous yoga movements], I was
always worried and afraid. Later, however, I learned that this was a Hatha Yoga
process effected by the Goddess Kundalini in order for Her to move up through
the spinal column into the sahasrara [upper psychic center]. (Quoted in The Coming
Darkness, 149-151)
Muktananda was apparently demon-possessed.
But some people involved with kundalini just like Muktananda don’t interpret
their terrible experience as demon possession because of the false worldview
they are enmeshed in.
They deliberately cultivate possession for
purposes of supposed spiritual enlightenment. They see is as God possession.
They reinterpret what is really demon possession as divine possession.
Gopi Krishna (1903-1984) was a founder of one
of the several Kundalini Research Centers in the world. He recorded his own
yoga-induced kundalini experiences [emphasis mine]:
It was variable for
many years, painful, obsessive, even phantasmic. I have passed through almost
all the stages of different mediumistic, psychotic and other types of mind, for
sometime I was hovering between sanity and insanity. I was writing in many
languages, some of which I never knew [the mediumistic ability of automatic
writing].
(Encyclopedia
of New Age Beliefs, 234)
It is worth noting that Krishna believes that
most schizophrenics and manic depressives represent “malfunctioning” kundalini
energy, thus admitting that it can produce mental derangement.
The Bible reads the living God doesn’t give
us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
But this is the total opposite of what
Muktananada experienced.
In his book The Primal Power in Man or the
Kundalini, Shakti, Swami Narayanananda describes what one experiences which one
with discerning eyes would see as demon possession:
These hot currents
that reach the brain center heat the brain, make the mind fickle, bring
insomnia, brain disorder, insanity and incurable diseases. For the hot currents
keep the mind wide awake and if a person does not know how to check the
currents and to bring down the partly risen kundalini shakti to safer centers,
one suffers terribly and it may ruin the whole life of a person or lead one to
insanity. This is why we see many become insane, many get brain defects, and
many others get some incurable diseases after deep sorrow. (Encyclopedia of New
Age Beliefs, 607)
More descriptions while under the influence
of kundalini:
“I really felt
frightened, as the Power seemed something which could consume me.” (The Serpent Power:
The secrets of Tantric and Shaktic Yoga, 21)
“Your mind gets influenced spiritually as if some spirit has taken possession of your body and under that influence, different postures of yoga are involuntarily performed without the pain or fatigue.” (Kundalini Evolution and Enlightenment, 95)
“Your mind gets influenced spiritually as if some spirit has taken possession of your body and under that influence, different postures of yoga are involuntarily performed without the pain or fatigue.” (Kundalini Evolution and Enlightenment, 95)
One kundalini practitioner described the
“awakening” as a sense of going down into an abyss, or “black hole.”
That’s interesting because in the Bible the
abyss is not written about in a positive light. In fact, when Jesus Christ, who
is God incarnated, walked the earth 2,000 years ago demons cried out in fear
that He would not send them to the abyss (Luke 8:31).
Not just unbelievers are getting involved
with Kundalini but also professing Christians.
The following is a story about Mineda J.
McCleave:
She became interested in the occult and,
despite God’s warnings against all such involvement (Deuteronomy 18:9-12), she naively trusted
that God would protect her from anything evil… After immersing herself in
occult literature, she began meditation.
The result was kundalini arousal, ten years
of serious mental problems, and a thorough conversion to Christian mysticism.
In the end, McCleave interpreted her occult
kundalini experience as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Her story provides a
powerful look at the consequences of occult practice in contemporary American
spiritual life:
“I plunged into
meditation prayer… I began to have problems relating to the world around me. I
had shifts in consciousness during my non-meditative hours… I was again
bothered with alternating periods of euphoria, anxiety, depression, and,
sometimes, despair. I was surprised to find that my peaceful prayer life was
often counterbalanced with thoughts of suicide. I could not understand these
strange moods… This activity, added to long periods of prayer, was causing
changes, painful ones, in my mind and body. The physical, mental, and emotional
problems that surfaced were so dramatic that I had to quit working.
I withdrew from
society and had to rely upon my family to care for and support me… I had begun
a long ‘dark night of the soul,’ and it lasted for ten years. My peaceful
prayers changed to frantic spiritual cries for help… Finally, in 1975, when I
was thirty-seven years old, I was hospitalized three times in the psychiatric
ward of the local hospital… I could no longer cope with my agitated mind. I was
besieged with migraine headaches and no longer had any control over my life.
Reluctantly, I
endured eight months of therapy…. On April 6, 1976… I was jarred out of my
prayer by what felt like a current of energy that seemed to enter my body
through my left foot… This current was constant for four days and nights. With
it there was increased feeling of great body heat. I felt as though I were
burning up from the inside out. Relatives could feel heat emanating from the
front and back of my head while their hands were an inch away from me. It was a
frightening experience. I knew, intuitively, that I had somehow triggered this
current through intense prayer, but I had no knowledge of how to stop it.
My mind was
hyperhyperactive… Physically, I went through a variety of symptoms…
Emotionally, I went up and down the keyboard of euphoria, joy, bewilderment,
anxiety, depression, and the familiar despair. I was, at times, deluded and
often disoriented. On one occasion, I actually believed I had died. Such peace!
I was almost disappointed to realize I hadn’t. I was afraid to leave my
apartment for fear someone would notice my schizophrenic-like behavior. I gazed
into a mirror and observed a ‘wild’ look– the same strange look I had noticed
in 1973 after I took a week of biofeedback training… Despite my discomfort, I
believed that what was happening to me was good, regardless of contrary
appearances. I believed, “All things work together for good to them that love
God.” Yet, while trying to adjust to this marvelous energy that was coursing
through my mind and body, now intermittently, I exhibited so many psychiatric
symptoms that the psychologist could no longer with me…
Finally, in December
1976, by the grace of God, I was led to an open-minded, tolerant,
compassionate, caring Christian… Bill Grimmer– an extraordinary man. He was not
afraid of the occult. He was not afraid of kundalini… My psychiatrist helped me
to remember that I am still a Christian, not a yogi. He encouraged me to
continue in my search–to reread the Scriptures and the writing of the mystics–
to find the common denominator…
As I reread the
Scriptures and the writings of the mystics, I was amazed at the new insights I
gained… The accomplished yogis explained their attainments in terms of
kundalini. The Christian mystics, unaware of the Hindu term, described the same
phenomenon, but named the animating, motivating spiritual force at work within
them as the Holy Spirit… The Christian experience [of kundalini] is described
as the ‘baptism of the Holy Spirit’.” (Encyclopedia of New Age Beliefs, 608-609)
From a Christian perspective, confusing what
is really of God and the demonic has always been the goal of Satan for purposes
of spiritual deception.
Sadly, the enemy has achieved a significant
level of success.
Perusing through some videos on Youtube you
can read a lot of video titles suggesting the dangers of trying to awaken the
kundalini (mind you as far as I know they are all not Christian):
The man talks about his horrible experience
of being constantly tormented with extreme itching and stinging pains all over
his body after having a kundalini experience.
He said he felt like someone was sticking him
with needles. The torment went on for months and even had him contemplate
suicide. Sadly, many of them will try to explain away
their horrible experience with kundalini with New Age psycho-babble.
Christians who were once involved with
kundalini shared their testimony in the comment section in some of the videos
of those who promote kundalini:

When a Christian receives the gift of the
Holy Spirit by repenting and turning to the Lord Jesus Christ there are never
such potential bad manifestations or symptoms as found with Kundalini.
The Bible reads the
fruits of the Holy Spirit are “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…” (Galatians 5:22-23).
This is unlike the “fruits” of kundalini for
many practitioners.
Conclusion
Well, if it acts like a devil, destroys like
a devil, and looks like a devil… then it is probably a devil.
The Bible reads Satan changes into an angel
of light (2
Corinthians 11:4).
Surely, he would sell people the idea of
receiving kundalini to many people under the guise of enlightenment or higher
consciousness.
There is nothing new under the sun.
In my experience with deliverance – that is
casting demons out of people by the authority of Jesus Christ – I have come
across this spirit in people.
Sometimes the spirit will lie dormant in a
person but will retaliate against the person once he has repented and turned to
the Lord Jesus Christ.
Just all the more evidence that this spirit
was a sinister spirit all along.
The Lord and God Jesus Christ, the Savior and
Deliverer
If you are suffering from kundalini demon
possession there is no one who can deliver you from the subjection other than
the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus is not entirely what they commonly say
in Eastern religions and the New Age. Cults always deny the true nature of
Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is God Almighty (John 1:1; Revelation
1:8) and
Creator (Colossians
1:16)
who was conceived in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18-25).
He incarnated in the flesh (John 1:14), lived a sinless life
(1 Peter
2:22),
died on the cross for the sins of many (Matthew 26:28), and was resurrected (Luke 24:6-7).
And He is coming back to judge the world in
righteousness (2
Timothy 4:1).
Jesus has power over Satan’s kingdom.
He routinely cast demons out of people during
His earthly ministry (Matthew
8:31)
and has given His believers the same authority (Luke 10:19).
In fact, demons are terrified of Jesus (Mark 1:24-26; James
2:19).
Jesus is the One who has all authority in
heaven and earth (Matthew
28:18).
The Bible, the word of God, makes the call
for all people to come to repentance:
“And saying, Repent
ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” – Matthew 3:2
“Repent ye therefore,
and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” – Acts 3:19
“He that covereth his
sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have
mercy.”
– Proverbs
28:13
“And Jesus answering
said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are
sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” – Matthew 5:32-33
“But after thy
hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day
of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;” – Romans 5:2
“When they heard
these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God
also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” – Acts 11:18
“And the times of
this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to
repent:”
– Acts
17:30
The Bible also calls people to put their
faith in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible:
“For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
“Even the
righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all
them that believe: for there is no difference:” – Romans 3:22
“Being justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” – Romans 3:24
“To declare, I say,
at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him
which believeth in Jesus.” -
Romans 3:26
“For by grace are ye
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of
works, lest any man should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
The Bible is clear that Jesus Christ is the
only way:
“Jesus saith unto
him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but
by me.” -
(John 14:6)
“Neither is there
salvation in any other: for there is none other name [Jesus] under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved.” - (Acts 4:12)
If you want someone to pray with you to
receive Jesus and/or prayer for deliverance then feel free to contact me.
If you are sincere you can say this simple
prayer to the Father (it doesn’t have to be word for word):
“God, I recognize
that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for
myself and that is wrong. Please forgive me of all of my sins just as I forgive
others. I need You in my life; I want You in my life.
“I acknowledge the
completed work of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me
on the cross, I believe in my heart Jesus is Lord and was raised from the dead
and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me
through this sacrifice.
“Come into my life
now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my
Savior.
“From this day
forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself,
but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I
ask this in the Lord and GOD Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
I
am a born-again Christian who has been through many fiery trials and attacks
from the enemy. I have everything from experienced sleep paralysis to a demon
trying to enter my body. But by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, I have been
able to overcome them and exercise the authority God gives believers. I have
now become much wiser and stronger in regard to spiritual warfare after the
devil sifted me for many years.
By
God’s grace may this blog be a useful resource for exposing the enemy and
provide effective ways to receive deliverance in the authority and mighty name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
