YOU DESERVE IT - Let Christ’s mindset become our motivation - lay aside our rights in order to serve others. We may not be recognized for our efforts, but our service will not go unnoticed by God. The approval and pleasure of God is what we as Christ’s followers, deserve - there is no greater reward - ‘Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus; who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.’ How often do we hear the phrase ‘You deserve it’? The fact that we deserve something new, good, expensive, luxurious or decadent is constantly drummed into us so that over time, we can almost believe that we deserve anything. Yet the life of Christ while on earth, reveals an entirely different attitude. He deserved to reign majestically in Heaven but chose to walk humbly and sacrificially on earth. There was no selfish ambition or vain conceit in Jesus. If we say we follow Christ, we must also say we want to live as He lived. He existed in the form of God yet gave no thought to seizing equality with God. He emptied himself of His outward glory by reducing Himself to the form of a servant. He humbled Himself and became vulnerable, denying His rights so that we might have an example to follow. Let Christ’s mindset become our motivation. Lay aside our rights in order to serve others.

‘Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus; who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.’ - Philippians 2:5-7 (NIV).

How often do we hear the phrase ‘You deserve it’?
What Does Philippians 2:5 Mean? The fact that we deserve something new, good, expensive, luxurious or decadent is constantly drummed into us so that over time, we can almost believe that we deserve anything.
Yet the life of Christ while on earth, reveals an entirely different attitude.
He deserved to reign majestically in Heaven but chose to walk humbly and sacrificially on earth.
JESUS AS A SERVANT. — SteemitThere was no selfish ambition or vain conceit in Jesus. Why should His chosen children behave differently?
If we say we follow Christ, we must also say we want to live as He lived.
Yet we cling to our rights; what we believe we deserve.
We have worked hard, so we say we deserve to spend all our money on ourselves; we can do with our body whatever we wish, for we believe we have the right to control it; we can use our time and possessions however we desire, because doesn’t our time, treasure and talent belong to us alone?
The Servant King - Mountain Ridge ChurchYet our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
He existed in the form of God yet gave no thought to seizing equality with God.
Instead, He emptied himself of His outward glory by reducing Himself to the form of a servant.
He humbled Himself and became vulnerable, denying His rights so that we might have an example to follow (1 Peter 2:21).
Prayer:
‘Jesus thank you for showing me how to live.
‘Thank you that you set an example as the humble servant willing to give up your rights on earth for the glory of Heaven.
‘Help me to follow in your steps.’
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!
Final Thoughts:
Jesus, You take over! - A prayer of the Servant of God, Fr ...Let Christ’s mindset become our motivation. Lay aside our rights in order to serve others.
We may not be recognized for our efforts, but our service will not go unnoticed by God.
Are we selfishly clinging to our rights or are we willing to lay them down for something far weightier?
The approval and pleasure of God is what we as Christ’s followers, deserve. There is no greater reward.
Be Greatly Blessed!
