“The Lord will
comfort Israel again and have pity on her ruins. Her desert will blossom like
Eden, her barren wilderness like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness
will be found there. Songs of thanksgiving will fill the air.” – Isaiah 51:3
NLT
Today God
wants to tell you: “I’m getting ready to rain on your desert places.”
Even the
places in your life that have been a barren wilderness will be transformed into
something like the garden of Eden.
A desert
place is an area of your life that has been dry and unfruitful. There could be
many different causes for this.
Perhaps
you’ve been hurt by destructive words or events. Maybe you’ve drifted away from
the Lord or not followed one of His instructions.
No matter
what circumstances have brought about your dry season, this can be the day when
your covenant relationship with God is restored.
But God may
want you to take some “step” of faith in order to spark your turnaround.
The Waiting
Process
Genesis 8:22
declares, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest … shall not cease.”
If you look
closely at this passage, there are three distinct elements:
First, there
must be a SEED, then there must be TIME, and after that God will provide a
HARVEST.
If you’ve sown
a seed and haven’t received your harvest yet, it may be that you’ve forgotten a
missing ingredient: waiting!
Let’s be
honest. Nobody likes that word: W-A-I-T. Yet it’s a powerful part of God’s
process to bless your life.
This
principle is found throughout the Bible.
David said in
Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen
your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!”
So, you’ve
got to wait. But this doesn’t mean you’re supposed to be passive or detached.
While you’re
waiting, you should continue to speak to your seed and continue to water your
seed through your prayers and your faith.
Friend, God
will reward your waiting.
Lamentations
3:25 promises: “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who
seeks Him.”
Whether your
harvest comes overnight or you must wait for days, months, or even years, you
can have confidence in what this verse says: THE LORD IS GOOD!
Get Ready for
Rain
Someone has
well said, “God’s not trying to get something from you; He’s trying to get
something to you.”
When you sow
seeds in faith and patiently await your harvest, the Lord’s rain will be poured
out upon your marriage, children, grandchildren, and other loved ones.
His rain will
transform your finances and cause your spirit, mind, and body to flourish. And
He has also promised to renew your strength as you patiently wait on Him (Isaiah
40:31).
Never forget
that God is a covenant God.
Deuteronomy
4:31 says, “He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant
of your fathers which He swore to them.”
No matter the
wait, God is faithful to answer prayer. You can take Him at His Word to fulfill
His covenant promises.
