Broken
For You
His sacrifice at Calvary assured your eternal place in
God's kingdom. In celebrating His supper, remember His sacrifice.
.
At the last supper, Jesus identified himself as the sacrificial animal whose blood would seal the new covenant, and he invited his disciples to partake of Him fully. His eternal, unchanging covenant is still inviting the lost to receive Him fully and be saved.
.
When you celebrate the Lord's Supper, remember the covenant sealed with
the blood of your Savior. His body was given and broken for you. His blood was
shed for the remission of your sins.
Rod Parsley
“The cup of
blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The
bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” - 1 Corinthians
10:16
After two parties entered into
a covenant, they celebrated by sharing a memorial meal.
Using wine to represent the
blood of the slain animal and bread to symbolize its flesh, they fed each other
to symbolize becoming one.
At the last supper, Jesus
identified himself as the sacrificial animal whose blood would seal the new
covenant, and he invited his disciples to partake of Him fully (Matthew 26:26-28).
His eternal, unchanging
covenant is still inviting the lost to receive Him fully and be saved.
When you celebrate the Lord's
Supper, remember the covenant sealed with the blood of your Savior.
His body was given and broken
for you.
His blood was shed for the
remission of your sins.
His sacrifice at Calvary
assured your eternal place in God's kingdom.
In celebrating His supper,
remember His sacrifice.
And celebrate His coming.
His covenant meal points to
his past atonement on the cross . . . His presence in you through the Holy
Spirit . . . and His coming again to take you home.
Jesus,
whenever I partake of communion, I will remember the cross.
I will come
into Your presence welcoming the Holy Spirit.
And I will
celebrate the joy of Your return to take me home.
Amen.
