LOVE NEVER FAILS - Jesus introduced a new paradigm with His statement about loving your enemies. It was this: Love overcomes hatred. He said that they would eventually be the winners in every conflict between good and evil. Love demonstrates the character of God. Love extends God’s influence wherever it is applied. Love cannot be overcome by hatred, violence, fear, or a thousand other pathologies that were unleashed on the earth as a result of sin. As long as we live, behave, and speak in accordance with God’s love, we cannot fail. You will overcome — because love never fails. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.” - Besides standing the religious world of the day on its head, Jesus introduced a new paradigm with His statement about loving your enemies. Love Never Fails

Love demonstrates the character of God

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.” - Matthew 5:43-45

Besides standing the religious world of the day on its head, Jesus introduced a new paradigm with His statement about loving your enemies.

It was this: Love overcomes hatred.

He did not say that someone who loves their enemies would never be misunderstood or mistreated; He said that they would eventually be the winners in every conflict between good and evil.

Love demonstrates the character of God.

Love extends God’s influence wherever it is applied.

Love cannot be overcome by hatred, violence, fear, or a thousand other pathologies that were unleashed on the earth as a result of sin.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says, “Love suffers long and is kind; love envies not; love flaunts not itself and is not puffed up, does not behave itself improperly, seeks not its own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never fails.”

What this says to me is that as long as we live, behave, and speak in accordance with God’s love, we cannot fail.

The next time you find yourself in a crisis, instead of yielding to fear and panic, engage in some self-evaluation.

Are you acting according to God’s definition of love?

If you are not, make the necessary changes.

If you are, you will overcome — because love never fails.

Lord Jesus, thank you for helping me love my enemies by your Spirit for I know your love overcomes all evil.

Help me demonstrate your character to a world in need of your grace, and guide me into your truth and victory.

Amen!
