More Than A Storybook

Hermeneutics* is a theological word best explained by 2 Timothy 2:15: 

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." 

Understanding the word Hermeneutics isn't important, but understanding God's Word is. 

The Bible contains figures of speech (hyperbole, simile, personification, metaphor, poetic language). But it's more than a poetry book.

It contains reliable history, but it's more than a history book. 

It contains interesting narratives, but it's more than a storybook. 

It contains principles, commands and guidance, but it's more than an instruction manual. 

A single verse can change a life, but we need it all. 

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 

* "the study of the methodological principles of interpretation of the Bible"--learning how to accurately handle the texts in Scripture so you don't assign meaning to them that is not present and you don't miss meaning that is present.
