A False Religion Based on
and Angel's Revelation
.
.
Gail Burton Purath
A
Christian friend asked why I wrote: Why Muslims Can't Believe Jesus was a
Prophet.
I
explained that Christians need to be aware when religions promote a "false
Jesus" - a Jesus who is not the Jesus described in Scripture.
My
prayer is that we will recognize that Mormons need to hear the true gospel just
as much as our atheist friends do.
Mormons
believe:
Joseph
Smith found the Book of Mormon in 1823, guided by the angel Moroni.
The
Book of Mormon is the perfect, trustworthy Word of God.
The
Bible contains errors in doctrine.
Non-Mormon
churches are not preaching the true gospel.
God
the Father was once a man.
Christ
died to make eternal life possible, but there are different
"kingdoms" in eternity. To spend eternity with God the Father, you
must be married in the Mormon temple and you must obey Mormon prophets and
ordinances.
Although
some Mormon explanations sound very similar to biblical Christianity, the
foundation, principles and conclusions of Mormonism are very different.
They
worship a different Jesus - something spoken of in 2 Corinthians 11:4.
It's
interesting that Galatians 1:8 contains a very clear warning against false
beliefs like Mormonism:
"Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach
a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's
curse!"
The
angel Moroni definitely preached a different gospel and denied the true gospel.
Whether
you know any members of the LDS church or not, why not take some time to pray
for their salvation.

beliefs of Mormonism and documentation for the beliefs listed above, see:

Hi! I'm Gail Burton Purath. I started
Bible Love Notes to give people a minute of Scriptural encouragement in their
busy day.
I don't have all the answers,
but
since I asked Christ to be my
Lord and Savior in 1974, I've been learning from the One Who has all the
answers!
I'm still a sinner, a learner,
a student who falls down and disappoints God at times. But it's my desire to
grow closer to the Lord, day by day, minute by minute.
I need to be challenged,
encouraged, corrected and comforted, and I think you do as well...so let's
learn together about the love of God--a love that is so vast that we will
always be discovering new and wonderful things about it.
2
Corinthians 11:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 For [you seem willing to allow it] if one comes and preaches
another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit
from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted. You
tolerate all this beautifully [welcoming the deception].
