The Little
Foxes
“Take us the foxes, the little
foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes” -- Song of Solomon 2:15 (KJV)
This
is one of my favorite HOLY SPIRIT-inspired teachings: in this passage:
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the
vines: for our vines have tender grapes” -- Song of Solomon 2:15 (KJV)
We are actually talking about the concept of: “A
little leaven spoils the whole lump” ... OR “not having any spot or wrinkle
in our spiritual garments” (singular spot in the Bible)...
The
foxes in this famous scripture are symbolic representation
of the demonic.
The grape vines are symbolic representation of JESUS
declaring hundreds of years later, that HE IS IN FACT THE VINE -- and we are
the branches of that VINE ...
“I AM THE
VINE, ye are the branches: He that abideth in ME, and I in him, the same
bringeth forth much fruit: for without ME ye can do nothing.” John 15:5 (KJV)
Now we see that we don't need big foxes to spoil our
connection to the lead VINE--just little foxes will do it--even the "little
sins" -- and why foxes?
Because
like the enemy all furry and cute -- very attractive, easily luring us to sin --
the foxes have sharp teeth and are ready to strike once you move in too close.
The
little sins lead to bigger sins.
GOD
says we cannot even give the devil a toehold.
The Bible says “resist the devil and he will flee” and
“cast
down imaginations.”
LORD help us to see beyond the lure of what looks cute
and furry and awaken us to the sharp teeth of "little sins" ....
