lyrics
{Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea}
Oh, carry my loved one home safely to me
{She sailed at the dawning, all day I've been blue}
Red sails in the sunset, I'm trusting in you
Swift wings you must borrow
Make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow
And she goes sailing no more
{Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea}
Oh, carry my loved one home safely to me
Instrumental interlude
{Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea}
Oh, carry my loved one home safely to me
{She sailed at the dawning, all day I've been blue}
Red sails in the sunset, I'm trusting in you
Swift wings you must borrow
Make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow
And she goes sailing no more
{Red sails in the sunset, way out on the sea}
Oh, carry my loved one home safely to me
Instrumental interlude
Swift wings you must borrow
Make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow
And she goes sailing no more
We marry tomorrow
And she goes sailing no more
{Red sails in the sunset}
Way out on the sea (ooh-wee-ooh, wee-ooh)
Oh, carry my loved one
{Home safely to me}
Oh, carry my loved one
{Home safely to me}

Nat King Cole
Nathaniel Adams Coles (March 17, 1919
– February 15, 1965), known professionally as Nat King Cole, was a musician who
first came to prominence as a leading jazz pianist. He owes most of his popular
musical fame to his soft baritone voice, which he used to perform in big band
and jazz genres. He was one of the first black Americans to host a television
variety show, and has maintained worldwide popularity since his death.

lyrics
Was
down where fisher folk gathered
I wandered far from the throng
I heard a fisher girl singin'
And this refrain was her song
Red sails in the sunset way out on the sea
Oh carry my loved one home safely to me
He sailed at the dawning, all day I've been blue
Red sails in the sunset, I'm trusting in you
Swift wings you must borrow, make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow and he goes sailing no more
Red sails in the sunset way out on the sea
Oh carry my loved one home safely to me
Swift wings you must borrow, make straight for the shore
We marry tomorrow and he goes sailing no more
Red sails in the sunset way out on the sea
Oh carry my loved one home safely to me
I wandered far from the throng
Oh carry my loved one home safely to me
Published in 1935,
its music was written by Hugh Williams (pseudonym for Wilhelm Grosz) with
lyrics by prolific songwriter Jimmy Kennedy. The song was inspired by the
"red sails" of Kitty of Coleraine, a yacht Kennedy often saw off the
northern coast of Ireland and by his adopted town Portstewart, a seaside resort
in County Londonderry. - Wikipedia
The Platters is an
American vocal group formed in 1952. They were one of the most successful vocal
groups of the early rock and roll era. Their distinctive sound was a bridge
between the pre-rock Tin Pan Alley tradition and the burgeoning new genre. The
act went through several personnel changes, with the most successful
incarnation comprising lead tenor Tony Williams, David Lynch, Paul Robi, Herb
Reed, and Zola Taylor. The group had 40 charting singles on the Billboard Hot
100 chart between 1955 and 1967, including four number-one hits. The Platters
were one of the first African-American groups to be accepted as a major chart
group and were, for a period of time, the most successful vocal group in the
world. - Wikipedia
