Nostradamus Predictions

What is the
accuracy?

.
Prophet and astrologer Nostradamus has captivated the imaginations of many generations through his cryptic predictions that seem to have an uncanny accuracy.

Nostradamus is credited by many people with predicting such things as the rise of Adolf Hitler, World War II, and even the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy.

Typically, the predictions require some stretches. For example, here is a verse that people say points to the Kennedy assassination:

"The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt. An evil deed, foretold by the bearer of a petition. According to the prediction, another falls at night time."

Another passage has been cited as evidence that Nostradamus not only knew of the assassination, but was aware of the mysterious "second assassin" some have postulated fired from the "grassy knoll" in Dallas when John F. Kennedy was shot.

"The ancient work will be accomplished,
and from the roof evil ruin will fall on to the great man. Being dead, they will accuse an innocent of the deed, the guilty one hidden in the misty woods."

Fascinating stuff, but hardly the same as if Nostradamus had named Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald hundreds of years ago.

And hardly in the same league with the Messianic prophecies fulfilled in the Bible foretelling the coming of Jesus, His death, and His resurrection.

Look at Psalm 22:16-18 which depicts in 1000 B.C. the details of Christ's crucifixion:

"Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing."

Now look at Luke 23:33-34, which details what happened that day in A.D. 32:

"When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals-one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.' And they divided up his clothes by casting lots."

Interestingly, Nostradamus had many Christian influences in his own life.

His family converted from Jewish to Catholic when he was 9 years old and maintained that affiliation throughout his life.

Many of his own prophecies mirror those found in the Bible and his favorite books of the Bible included Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Daniel, Malachi, and Revelation.

NOSTRADAMUS - Was He the Greatest Prophet of Modern Times? - He is noted for having "predicted" the French Revolution, Napoleon, Adolph Hitler, the atomic bomb, 9-11 atrocity, JFK and RFK Assassinations, and just about everything else that has happened since the time of his predictions.

Who Was Nostradamus?
Introduction
Nostradamus Prophecies
Nostradamus (Michel de Nostredame) is the famous prophet from the 16th century.
He is noted for having "predicted" the French Revolution, Napoleon, Adolph Hitler, the atomic bomb, 9-11 atrocity, JFK and RFK Assassinations, and just about everything else that has happened since the time of his predictions.
This page will examine some of his predictions to show just how amazing they really are.
2012 prediction
With the end of the world last December 21, 2012, according to the Mayan calendar, there was a lot of interest in the apocalypse that was supposed to have occurred near the end of 2012.
Nostradamus predicted a great comet, Nibiru, or rogue planet, Planet X, would impact the Mediterranean on December 21, 2012, causing great destruction worldwide.
Here is that great prediction:
The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck.
You say, "but that was supposed to happen back in July, 1999." Small details!
Everybody knows that the calendar was changed from Julian to Gregorian in the year 1582, which accounts for the difference.
Never mind that the differences in calendars was only 10 days, making it June or July, 1999. We know that Nostradamus meant it to be December 21, 2012!
Egyptians capture King of Persia
A great prediction of Nostradamus was the one in which he predicted that the Egyptians would capture the King of Persia in October, 1727:
The third climate included under Aries
The year 1727 in October,
The King of Persia captured by those of Egypt:
Conflict, death, loss: to the cross great shame. (3:77)
It turns out that the Shah of Persia (Ashraf Hotaki) was involved in a battle in 1727, which he won, forcing a peace treaty in September, 1727.
However, there is speculation that a month later, the sneaky Egyptians (who were not involved in the war) crept over 1,000 miles into Hamadan, captured the King, and returned him before next morning, fulfilling the prediction of Nostradamus, while keeping their actions out of the history books.
How else could the prediction have come true? We know that Nostradamus is always right!
Most evil man
Another remarkable prediction of Nostradamus was his prediction about the Roman clergy.
He predicted that they would hold an election in 1609, issued from Campania, Italy that would produce the most evil man of all.
And of course Nostradamus was right again, since Pope Paul V was elected in 1605 (yes, another calendar switch problem) and proved to be even more evil than Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung - combined!
Never heard of him? Alas, your education is lacking (see Wikipedia article)!
Here is the prediction of Nostradamus:
In the year 1609, Roman clergy,
At the beginning of the year you will hold an election:
Of one gray and black issued from Campania,
Never was there one so wicked as he. (10:91)
Catholic Church kicks out astrologers
http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=savedbygracemini&l=as2&o=1&a=0801072115Another super-accurate prophecy of Nostradamus was that the Roman Catholic Church was going to kick out the astrologers in the year 1607.
Fortunately, Nostradamus (who as an astrologer) was dead by then, so he didn't have to worry about being kicked out of the church!
Here is his prediction:
The number of astrologers will grow so great,
that they will be driven out, banned and their books censored.
In the year 1607 by sacred assemblies
so that none will be safe from the holy ones. (8:71)
For a long time, astrology had been part of the Roman Catholic Church - or at least tolerated by church hierarchy.
However, this arrangement ended in 1781 (another calendar switch problem), when the church banned astrology and, of course, Nostradamus' prophetic writings.
The most remarkable thing about the ban is that it took the Roman Catholic Church seventeen centuries to figure out that the Bible was 100% against astrology.
However, Nostradamus was right again!
Carried away
Of course, I have saved the best for last. Nostradamus predicted that large numbers of people would get "carried away" in the year 1700:
Long before these happenings
the people of the East, influenced by the Moon,
in the year 1700 will cause many to be carried away,
and will almost subdue the Northern area. (1:49)
What we know is that this prophecy was definitely fulfilled within the last few years as the tabloids and check stand magazines made lots of people get carried away with the prophecies of Nostradamus.
Although the prophecy was fulfilled a couple hundred years late, we know that this was also due to the calendar switch problem, so Nostradamus was right again! Amazing!
"When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. (Deuteronomy 18:22)

NOSTRADAMUS - Many people are asking, "Did Nostradamus predict the end of the world?" The very short answer to this question is no. His astrological bent had a great deal to do with the content of his writings.

Did Nostradamus Predict the End of the World?

"But the certainty of things past and present gives us confidence in things to come."

Many people are asking, "Did Nostradamus predict the end of the world?"
The very short answer to this question is no.
Michel de Nostredame, later to become known as Nostradamus, was born in France in 1503 and died in 1566.
He was a very well-educated man, an astrologer, an author, and a doctor, who specialized in the treatment of the Bubonic Plague.
He became known as one of the leading experts in the treatment of the Plague.
In spite of his expertise, his wife and two children succumbed to the illness and subsequently died from it.
His 'so called' prophesies and predictions have been extracted from the approximately 1000 letters he wrote in 4-line (quatrains) and 6-line (sixains) verses.
In one of the letters, he clearly states (in plain French) that his predictions will go on for thousands of years, out to the year 3797.
This is not a prediction for the end of the world, rather a statement about how far his projections would extend.
His astrological bent had a great deal to do with the content of his writings.
Astrological authorities believed that history inevitably repeats itself.
In one of his pieces, he wrote: "But the certainty of things past and present gives us confidence in things to come."
Nostradamus had only to look back at the ancient chronicles, in particular those regarding 'omens' to find an abundance of material for his quatrains, and sixains. This he did to great effect.
The largest part of early seminal prophetic texts was written in Latin and included numerous scholarly abbreviations.
They were printed in an unfathomable gothic script. This is critical because it meant that only the 'educated' could read them, let alone hope to understand those texts.
It is known that Nostradamus had the access, and the ability to understand these classical works. He plagiarized from these, in some cases practically verbatim, to fill his letters. Some of the works are listed below:
Virgil's Eclogues (42-37 BC), Georgics (37-30 BC) and Aeneid (19 BC)
Julius Caesar's Gallic War (1st century BC)
Pliny the Elder's histories (1st Century BC)
Strabo's Historical Memoirs (1st century BC to 1st century AD)
Livy's History of Rome (1st century BC to 1st Century AD)
Petronius's Satyricon (1st century AD)
Suetonius's The Twelve Caesars (AD 120)
Plutarch's Parallel Lives (1st-2nd centuries AD)
Lucian's True History (2nd century AD)
Eusebius's Ecclesiastical History (4th century AD) and especially Julius Obsequens's On Omens (4th century AD)
Villehardouin's La Conquête de Constantinople (1209-13)
Joinville's Histoire de Saint-Louis (1270-1309), first printed in 1547
Froissart's celebrated Chroniques (1358 onwards, first printed 1504)
Commynes' Memoires (1489-98)
D'Auton's Chroniques de Louis XII (1499-1508)
The Rozier historial de France (1522)
Nostradamus Prophecy - Why do we Care so Much?
After the 911 attacks, Nostradamus prophecy was everywhere! It made the BBC News and it was contained in books on Amazon.com's bestseller list.
Dramatically, "Nostradamus" even displaced "sex" from the Internet's top-fifty list for a short period of time. Obviously, people love the notion of prophecy. The tabloids are a testament to that.
Why then, do so many people subscribe to the vague and usually erroneous prophecies of people like Nostradamus, Jeanne Dixon, Edgar Cayce, and others that make all the "urban legends" lists?
Why not read the most dramatic prophecies of all time - over 600 of them contained in a perennial bestseller known as the Bible?
And, guess what? They've all been fulfilled to date! And there's another 300 or so still on the horizon!
